Okay, so clearly Loki is a bit marmite.
yet people still watch it?You have to watch something that’s a bit st to understand what happens next….
I quite liked Falcon and winter solider (all the on the nose social commentary aside) because I liked the main characters.
I like the character Loki as well. It’s a shame he wasn’t in the show with his name on it.
I posted right at the beginning of this thread, asking whether I need to watch the marvel films to enjoy Loki as I had recently watched and enjoyed Wandavision.
I had previously watched a few marvel films it seems, a couple of Avengers, maybe some of Iron Man - Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty much the only one I properly enjoyed...until I watched them in order.
I must admit, they are pretty fantastic viewed properly - I had absolutely no idea that there was character cross over and story continuation between the films. Particularly enjoyed Guardians 1&2, Infinity War and Endgame were great. Weak ones for me, Iron Man 3, Thor Dark World, Civil War and Spiderman(s).
TV Series wise, loved the originality of Wandavision although the end was a bit weird. Falcon and winter soldier I struggled with a bit as I don't find them particularly strong characters/story is a bit meh. Loki though, absolutely loved it - Cant wait for season 2.
I am now officially marvelled out, having just watched Black Widow too!

Well you'll only have a couple of weeks rest though as the new What If animated series starts on the 11th August.I had previously watched a few marvel films it seems, a couple of Avengers, maybe some of Iron Man - Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty much the only one I properly enjoyed...until I watched them in order.

How dare you??!! I’m gonna take that as a personal insult. Civil War is the highlight of the MCU.
I demand you watch it again, repeatedly, until you agree with me.
On the other hand, I suppose you’re entitled to your opinion.

Best part is it cost me zero to watch all these - did some google surveys on my old phone and had enough balance to pay for 2 months of Disney, ideal!

Weirdly I really enjoyed Falcon (faults and all), Wanda took a while but overall enjoyed it. Loki.... hmmm it had spark of very good but on the whole it was easily the worst Marvel TV series TV Series wise, loved the originality of Wandavision although the end was a bit weird. Someone made a point earlier about the high production values of these Marvel TV shows and how they look good as result. For me, lifelong fan of superhero stuff and sci fi- before it was mainstream, it exacerbated the disappointment.
When you have access to top tier talent across the board, actors, story, ip, fx and budget there is no excuse for not turning out top notch product.
I’ll refer to Blakes 7- sci fi staple of the late 70’s and early 80’s. Very poor FX. No budget. But excellent scripts and stories and a talented cast. In it’s time the show was a hit as result.
It’s story and script that make these films and properties. Lately Marvel in particular seem to be forgetting that and trying to ram another point home using the story as vehicle to deliver that message. The product suffers as result. I heard the creators of Wanda vision talking about how the show was supposed to be about grief. Personally I found it indulgent and tedious, wasting screen time with a premise that presumably some thought would be subversive and interesting. The Falcon show was preachy, again a sub par plot, with people acting in a way that made no sense.
Finally Loki. They have a blank sheet of paper to create a story about the Asgardian God of Mischief given a second life coming up against an all powerful agency that controls time. He ends of fighting himself, then falling in love with a version of himself. All sounds interesting enough. Yet it wasn’t.
Given the budget and the talent I expect far better. I was reading better plotted And scripted Marvel comics in the 70’s.
