Did anybody else notice that some of the outdoor scenes at the 'supermarket' were around the various shops at the retail park in Broad Heath, Altrincham?
Yes, we did spend much of the programmes location spotting...
Yep,the "supermarket" was in the empty carpet shop next to Halfords.Yes, we did spend much of the programmes location spotting...

Has anyone figured out where she lived yet?. Altrincham is nowhere near Little Hulton which they drove through one episode.
I didn't recognise the road she lived in, but thought that it might be somewhere in the southern part of Bolton. They drove around a few areas that I could spot in the background.
-I remember seeing Little Hulton, Walkden, Farnworth, St Peter's Way, various places in Bolton, Bury, Trafford Park, East Lancs Road at Irlam o'th' Heights, Weaste, Broad Heath, Altrincham and saw a few other familiar looking locations that I couldn't quite place.
I am not too familiar with Greater Manchester so was genuinely chuffed when I recognized that junction in Little Hulton. I have been to a few of the places you have mentioned, but not often enough to recognize them from quick glimpses.
I suspect the intention was to show scenes of the area, sort of a snapshot or homage to his "home" rather than a realistic route.

I think the reaction he wanted was viewers to say "oh, isn't that ......." His talent is identifying what gives people a warm comfortable feeling.
What is good to see is there seems to be few knockers of this program.
Surely a sign of genuinely good mass comedy.
Programs like Miranda, Mrs Browns Boys etc needed appreciation and understanding to be even watchable but Car Share was observational comedy at its simplest and best.
I think Peter Kay is better at this kind of material than his stand up which judging by the content of his last tour is on a downward spiral unless he manages to revive that too.
Phoenix Nights and Max & Paddy really stand up to watching again and again and are DVDs well worth owning.
Talking of which, the brother of a friend of mine is a mate of a mate of Paddy McGuinness and the story goes that PK was at Paddy's house one day when said distant acquaintance calls around to pick up his snow shovel that Paddy hadn't returned. (not really a snow shovel but I can't remember the real reason). DA is introduced to PK and they exchange small talk then PK says to him "would you like a copy of my latest DVD" to which DA replies, "no thanks, I keep my stuff on hard drives so if I want one, I'll just rip one from the net". PK was said to be gob smacked at his cheek.
The entire story could have been made up but was told to me in good faith and may well have happened.

I'm not convinced by that. There were very few landmarks shown. It would only be observant residents of the areas between Altrincham and Bolton and a few others who would recognise it. If it was filmed in Slough, Rotheram, Croydon, Swindon etc. I wouldn't recognise any of it.MC Bodge said:

It will be good to see an interview with him talking about the making of Car Share. Maybe on the DVD?

I've really enjoyed this but I don't think Peter Kay can take all of the credit. He didn't write this, although his acting is pretty good
I'm sure his name went up with others in the credits? Poss not every episode though.Just checked, I must've imagined his name in the writing credits?!! Here is a good article covering the writers and how Peter Kay became involved and assisted the writers

OMG - I've just watched the first 2 episodes of this and I am in hysterics! The dogging sketch must be one of the funniest things I have ever seen! She plays the part fantastically, and he is just plain funny. Very 'real life' and I can't wait to watch the rest. I see there's only 6 episodes in the series, does anyone know if they're planning a 2nd series?
Only seen three of the series so three still to go for me. The three I saw I enjoyed which also included the "dogging" episode. The verbal exchanges in that were both credible whilst at the same time funny. The "dogging" invite from the total stranger in the final scene nearly stole the show.
I hope those decision makers go for at least another series run.
I also enjoy "Not going out" ( more Northern emphasis content ~ north western England even ) and they had an episode which included "dogging" in a forest in the dead of night. Must be something in the air or water in that part of the country...
