I'm in the US so maybe ahead of you and don't want to post spoilers.

Has S2Ep2 aired yet?

Not officially in the UK, but some of us have seen it - there's some non-spoiler comments on it earlier in the thread.

I wonder if they'll show it in the UK due to the "subject matter".

Thought the latest one (ep4) was pretty good.

Seems to be less comedy in that one.

Yes, pretty much a straight Star Trek storyline - and none the worse for it.

Personally I'd prefer it to veer more towards comedy than they have done. Its watchable and I like the 'off duty' stuff, which I think they actually do better than trek. But I just think there's so much more comedy to be had, it's taking itself way too seriously.

It also seems to be pandering to a very liberal audience with the themes and storylines, I can't see that going down well across the majority of the US. I wonder who their target audience is.

As ever, they seem undecided whether to go for comedy or for drama. The mix doesn't always work - but we love the comedy in our house.

What exactly was the issue with the subject matter in Ep2?

I don't quite get the hate for it, I thought it was good, but it was strange that they delayed it from Series 1 because suddenly we lost the attractive new officer and the relationship between Alara and Dan?

Personally I think the mix is quite good. It's a fine line to walk. And an out and out comedy just wouldn't be "sci-fi" it'd be a comedy. And plot, story and characters would suffer to get the laughs in. It can work, but is usually short lived. Something a little more serious has potentially far more mileage and staying power, just like TNG does.

Red Dwarf is about the best example of a sci-fi comedy cross, but even they balls up after series 6 were it dropped so far and so low, it just wasn't a sci-fi anymore, just poor gags strung together for cheap laughs that age badly.

Did they show Primal Urges as Ep2 in the UK?

The one with people trapped on a planet and the "interesting" addiction of Bortas?

It clearly wasn't a season-ending episode, nor a season-opener. I wonder if they originally planned it as a Christmas special or something?

Yes, that's the one. Don't understand it would be considered unsuitable for UK audiences?

Should have just been a late S1 episode, not the finale?

Edit: you're right, it would have been the penultimate episode in S1.
