I haven't seen TGT as I don't want to pay for it, i already pay the BBC.
Overall, it is the more moronic soaps and reality shows that attract the vast audiences. Draw from that what you will.

t memory and crap education. Realistically I'm no more clever than the next person. The person sitting next to me has a Masters Degree, but the highest I've achieved is HND! Getting back to the point, you were saying that Clarkson appeals only to unintelligent people, but I disagree. People just like different things. I don't like Ant and Dec, Soap Opera's, 99% of all Sports, but I don't think that makes fans unintelligent.

Both New TG and TGT are lacking in different ways. I can see both disappearing on a couple of years.

Good point that. I've meet some people very highly qualified in formal education who are great at information recall and regurgitating what they have read, but seem to have limited intuition, creativity and problem solving abilities (they can make good teachers). And vica versa of course...t memory and crap education. Realistically I'm no more clever than the next person. First one of the series that failed the wife test - 'this is boring' - as the Cuba bit unfolded so we watched Designated Survivor on Netflix instead.
I watched it solo yesterday and although it was probably a bit weaker than the rest of the series, it was still a decent hour of car telly.
I think my feelings on it are that this incarnation of TG began with fairly low expectations that have generally been exceeded. TGT started with enormous expectations that fell well short. Chris Evans TG felt it like could a FUBAR from the beginning and so it turned out.
