I've been watching the 'Dark Tourist'. Documentary where the host travels to various sightseeing places which aren't usually found on TripAdvisor.
Saw that a while back, interesting and fked up at the same time.

The Haunting of Bly Manor - the English posh accent by almost everyone is grating.

First 25 mins and it’s like one of those cheap American made for tv films that channel 5 show.
Its from the same people that did Haunting of Hill House last year and that was truly the worst thing I've sat through in a very long time. Twitter was going mad for it, saying it was terrifying. It wasn't and I dont expect Bly Manor to be much better frown

Below Deck.

Crew on a motor yacht pandering to the whims of unspeakably obnoxious rich charter clients, quarrelling, shagging, working and hoping for outrageous tips.

Strangely compelling viewing.
We've done all of them and Med which is also good, they are on Prime but you need a 30 day Hulu trial

I’m enjoying Bly Manor but it’s a bit like Austin Powers and Mary Poppings does Horror.

It’s filmed in Canada and stars a lot of Americans butchering British accents.

I’ve not idea when it’s set either, sometime between the 60s and now.

It’s shocking, it’s really unbearable to watch/listen. Definitely won’t be finishing it.
Two episodes in. The faux accents are fecking irritating, the kids are irritating, it’s meant to be 1987 but looks like the 50s, far too much PC nonsense going on and Carla Gugino is barely in it at all so far. Hill House was good this is not.
You mean you don't find the accents "splendid"? hehe

Archer - back on track so far with this season.
.
What new season? Have I missed this? Lana...Lana....LANA!
you couple of utter, utter bds! I was so excited to read that the next (and final! <sob sob>) season had dropped - only to find out that we're still awaiting new on when this'll drop after the US has seen it ((think it premiered early September there - not even a mention on UK NF of new/next)

The Bronx vs Vampires.

1hr 20mins of some young kids discovering that vampires want to take over the Bronx. Then fighting back.

Very silly. Not great. Filled a bit of time.

2 pints of blood out of a 10 pint person.
20 minutes in and it strike me that someone watched Fright Night and thought to transpose the idea to a large ghetto - not overly fussed about watching the remainder TBH

Hubie Halloween now available, looks like Adam Sandler as his normal slightly unhinged/mentally handicapped character, doing zany crazy stuff. Now going to watch it.
Worth watching?
well I got 15 minutes in and nearly threw my remote through the TV (and I actually like a chunk of sandler's stuff). If someone can tell me it gets better I may try a little more

The trailer for Enola Holmes looks like it might be interesting
Watched this with Mrs L yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Long, but that’s fine with watching movies at home - press pause, off to the loo, cup of tea and back into it. Didn’t lose interest and mighty impressed by the lead actress Millie Bobby Brown. 16! One to watch.

She's quite well known already as has been for a few years now.

Haunting of Bly Manor. Was absolute dogst. A huge steaming pile of dog st.

The first season was fantastic and so much more engrossing in terms of characters.

How to ruin an amazing franchise. I would put it on par with the Game of thrones debacle.

To The Lake

Russian subtitled virus disaster thing. Families trying to escape from Moscow while avoiding the infected / looting gangs. Couple of episodes in and it's fairly entertaining so far.

I started the first episode of Bly Manor and couldn't overlook Not London.

Producer: Are we going to film on location as we're setting this in the UK?

Netflix: Nah, fk that just stick up a map of the underground next to this payphone and put a picture of a red phone box up on this wall, no one will notice!

I'm not sure I'd go that far ha ha. But It's not a patch on Hill House, not even close.

I think the makers found themselves watching 'Tales of the Unexpected' one rainy afternoon and thought "Let's make that!" all the soft focus and ambiguous plot points.

I'm sure the US audience don't find the odd accents and weirdness to jarring, after-all they think Downtown Abbey is realistic.

In the middle of Season 1 of Cobra Kai..

I have to say I’m loving every minute of it .. somehow they have managed to capture 80s cheese while still being set in current times. The characters, dialogue and soundtrack is cringeworthy but entertaining all at the same time...

Maybe I like It because I grew up on Karate Kid. If it hadn’t been a staple in my youth then not sure if i would enjoy it so much.

It's definitely a thing at my 11 daughter's school; lots of memes apparently. So it seems to have translated well.

My wife loves it so I'm also watching it and it's actually growing on me, I think we're up to episode 6 or 7 now and a lot of the jarring annoying bits from the earlier episodes are beginning to make sense now some back story is being added and some scenes that explain events from another character's point of view are added.
Still can't work out when it's supposed to be set mind.
