Bloody good acting from Jane Danson and Simon Gregson
Simon Gregson is probably one of the most underrated acting talents we have in this country.

He's obviously very happy playing Steve and is kind of stuck in that role now, but he's a stand out performer year after year. I love his interactions with Dev.

It was good acting but I'm glad the storyline is nearing it's end.

Did anyone notice the street scene when Simon and the 2 girls walked up the cobbles (2m socially distanced)?
Looked like a scene from a bizarre western ! :-)

It shows that when they make the effort , on a serious story which requires a sensitive touch , the team can deliver. I say 'team' because the writing and direction were spot on , especially how they covered the lengthy summing up. Steve and Leanne were at the top of their games, but the heartbreaking vignette of Sarah singing to the child was so moving I realised I must have 'something in my eye' (copyright Brief Encounter). Simon Gregson is a fine actor -I wonder how he'd cope with a Pinter play , Shakespeare , or Stoppard ? I reckon Dev and Roy would excel - and Maureen Lipman of course

I was wondering last night whether any Corrie actors have left to develop a more varied and successful career. I could only think of Sarah Lancashire.

Suranne Jones went to Gloucester biggrin. Thanks for the reminders - I'd forgotten about both of them.

Gail would be ok I think, maybe in the next Fast n furious or Diehard franchise.... or ET 2? :-)

Suranne Jones has done really well in all the stuff outside of Corrie but they do need to move on quite quick to avoid typecasting. Sarah Lancashire seems to have found a niche also.

Yes, looked like a scene from High Noon.

Also, in a couple of scenes in Oliver's room, when Steve and Leanne were talking there was nobody in the bed, it appeared to be made up.

And Alex Bain (Simon) would make a great Klingon

I never liked Sarah in Corrie, (a bit of a drip) but she was excellent in Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax.

I don't think some Street alumni - eg Michelle Keegan - have progressed their career on the strength of their acting ability . Sarah Lancashire is the real deal though .

But it's had some seriously good people - Arthur Lowe . Kenneth Cope , Ann Reid , Patricia Routledge , June Brown, Davy Jones ,Joanna Lumley and Martin Shaw - for starters . The Street wasn't necessarily the platform , as it was for Katherine Kelly but it's had some major names on the cobbles - and that's before we get to the existing stars who are parachuted in , like McKellen , Lipman , Reeves and Kay

I remember Simon Gregson giving up part of his weekend to be a guest on our North West TVR car club stand at the Tatton Park classic car show. He's a great guy and I'm glad he's being praised.

That latest was definitely a world apart from the wonderful Corrie of old. Misery central!

And another minor thing that's bugging me - why does everyone wear shoes indoors? Nick answers the door having apparently just got out of bed wearing t-shirt/pj trousers/robe... but has Adidas trainers on. David is always lounging around with his (pristine) boots on when relaxing on the sofa.

The only actor I can think of who has had a more reliable job than Simon Gregson is Bill Roache. Most actors spend a lot of time out of work or chasing different roles until they hit it big. He landed a role at about 14 and hasn't left except for the traditional Corrie actor cocaine addiction episode and his recent fight with depression. Thoroughly deserved though and will probably be around for a long time to come.
