I recently watch a new French film A Prophet. The French do gritty better than anyone else

I saw that and after being pretty excited about it I was totally disappointed.
I found it unrealistic and a bit boring. The charachters weren't particularly good either.
Not awful by any means, but I couldn't understand where all the accolades came from.

I think sometimes films get so hyped that you're inevitably disappointed when you see them.

Agree completely. And the opposite is also true. SOmetimes you watch a film that is supposed to be a bit rubbish and end up loving it.

This weekend i watched
The Hurt Locker - agreed excellent movie!
Moon - very good indeed
Inglorious Basterds - over scripted rubbish, but well filmed and some good acting.

Spaceballs, hadn't seen it in years and stumbled across it in the bargain bucket at the video shop. Still pretty enjoyable, in a disengage brain type of way biggrin perfect

The Invasion - Too long and never really went anywhere, felt more like a TV production than a movie hit.

Yes Man - Pleasant surprise, a few subtle but very funny gags and had a decent message.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Was good, glad i've seen it but I won't watch it again. Very Forrest Gumpy.

'Brighton Rock' - I'd read the book but never seen the film until now. Very, very good.

Inkheart is a little jem of a film IMO, Stardust too if you haven't seen it. My kids love both t=of them, and i'm always more than happy to watch them again with them.

Just watched Bruce Willis in "Surrogates" which I really enjoyed. Great concept. Recommended.
I downloaded that via BT Vision this weekend. Very good; a bit "I, Robot" but still very good. Bruce Willis' surrogate was quite weird to see.

I also watched "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" which had been sitting on my shelf still in the wrapper.

I've just seen Avatar. Similar-ish concept. Different story, I'll concede. I'd say they might be rip-offs of the same concept but Surrogates is from a comic book from 2005 I believe.
