I think to enjoy series 3 you had to be a hard sci-fi fan. I thought it was excellent.
I think it was mainly that it was just so different from S1 and 2. The whole "westworld" thing was quirky, whereas putting it back in a city, and then killing Dolores off, then bringing her back with a conveniently placed body hidden away... It just didn't have much of what I enjoyed in S1 and could have been any sci fi show really.

But the trailer for S4 does look reasonably promising.

I am a big Sci-fi fan and no you don't because one of the biggest flaws of S3 was its lazy and generic worldbuilding. It was quite clear they didn't have a clue what to do once the left the make believe worlds of the theme park.

I believe the reason why S1 was so good was that it took so long to get to screen. The script was developed over such a long period. Then, caught out by its success, the producers rushed both S2 and S3 to the screens.

Hopefully S4, given the time taken to get that out, will wrap things up with some imagination, and back in the Westworld park itself.

I'm watching from the beginning again now, to re-familiarise myself with it before S4 is released. I'm still on S1, and even knowing what to look out for this time around, it's still incredible - probably the best TV I've ever seen. Complex characters, beautiful Maeve, grand music, and a complex story that largely resolves itself whilst moving on with something new (although not as good, admittedly).

Love the Lou Reed soundtrack to the latest S4 trailer.

For me the world building was not the focus but it was the exploration of how AI will evolve, especially the predictive aspect.

Well, I am definitely looking forward to this.

Didn't have a problem with S3, providing it got a S4, otherwise it would have gone nowhere.

Nothing will be better than season 1 but I hope at least S4 is better than S3 and do away with all the "kill off someone and then bring them back with another body/ball/whatever".

I'll watch it to see if it is better than S3, enjoyed S1 the most.

And within 30 seconds of the episode I’m confused and still am after watching the episode.

Sound track awesome as ever though.

Ah - think I might need to watch S1-S3 all over again!! I sort of got a bit 'numbed' to it after S1

I thought the first episode was a bit slow initially but I watched it a second time and I have a few observations and speculations which, if they pay out, could make it interesting.

When can we talk openly about it?

A quick google reveals it airs in the UK on 27 June, so I guess no spoilers until then.

It aired at 2am on sky but the usually accepted time is after its evening airing of 9pm.

Ah maybe 27 June is the "stream the whole series" date then.

It's one episode per week. And it's now June 28th. wink

What time is it rebroadcast in the UK for mainstream viewing? Is it 9pm on the 27th or 28th?

I think I missed a lot of subtleties and clues in that first episode.

Seriously lost track of what month it was when I read the air dates. laugh

Must admit there’s a lot in there to be confused about in ep 1.

There are a couple of YouTube vids which help with the speculation. I had missed quite a few things which those people had noticed. Where I thought it was a bit of a slow burner, there was a lot more detail which may indicate the way forward.
