I think I missed a lot of subtleties and clues in that first episode.
There are a couple of YouTube vids which help with the speculation. I had missed quite a few things which those people had noticed. Where I thought it was a bit of a slow burner, there was a lot more detail which may indicate the way forward.I knew I'd missed a lot of stuff (was tired). I'll have to up my game.
I really appreciate shows and films that include so many little details like Westworld does. It's a shame I too am too stupid to catch them unaided but having listened to those YouTubers who are obviously more observant, it does encourage me to watch them again. It makes this sort of content far less "disposable".

I went to YT. Apart from reminding me I forgot to watch the end credit scene (!)
Is there an end credit scene on regular broadcast tv channels?I streamed it on HBO Max and there's no end credit scene. The final scene was Christina on the fire escape and Teddy (presumably) stepping out of the shadows on the street below. Is it edited/cut differently when broadcast on other channels?
I watched all 3 series as they came out and lots of elements of S1 and S2 didn’t quite make complete sense although I got the idea of the end of S2 and the premise of S3 easily enough.
I can wholly recommended watching S3 again as a freshener for S4 but also I have thoroughly enjoyed bingeing S1 then S2 - there are just so many details to relish and enjoy once you’ve got your head around the multitude of timelines and quite interesting nuances in the relationships between the characters be they hosts or humans.
It has genuinely been eye opening and great fun to watch them again perhaps due to the time delay provided by Covid19 - any sooner and you might recall too much - too much longer and you may have lost interest.
It does bring it home how very well acted it was - some stuff is outstanding given the material and story framework.

I've watched season 1 3 times I think (something I rarely do with modern day tv). Pretty much a masterpiece. Still not sat and watched S2 again though. That always felt like "everyone was guessing the plot in S1, let's try and confuse them more" was the main driver for S2, for me.
S3 was more "generic modern day sci fi" and with the constant "are they dead? Oh no, here's another body" going on, it was a relief when it ended. That said, I enjoyed the first episode of S4. Once I'd been on YT and understood what might be going on, anyway...

I'm part way through S04E02 but I had to pop in here to say how one little detail irks me whenever it crops up on screen... the doors on those aerial taxis - the drones with people inside - open and close with staccato movement. I know they're only movie props but it they were real, they'd be smooth and convincingly strong. Watching them just takes me out of the moment and they are so inconsistent with the quality of all the other set pieces.
Anyway, about the episode... complex so far but enjoyable as usual.
[Edit]Road taxis have the same issue
Anyway, another good ep, if not-yet apparent where it's going.

Enjoyed that. But yeah now I looked out for the doors on the vehicles and they look very cheap and silly. Anyway, about the episode... complex so far but enjoyable as usual.

I seem to be enjoying this season more than S3. I was never a fan of Hale so was pretty glad she got killed off a long time ago. So her as the host protagonist is a trial but there's plenty of Maeve so that balances that out. I love the Clementine character too, so seeing her go badass is cool.
I always thought that hardassed characteristic of Hale lacked conviction. When she was playing "disinterested" it worked for me but the "I'm the boss" thing didn't. And now she's not Hale at all... Yeah I agree with you, she's not all that.
I also felt that Dolores would not have gone full-on "murder everyone" either. Sure, kill anyone who has wronged her but not all humans are alike, as is proven by Caleb.
Maeve though... love her. I'd buy that for a dollar.

Face it Maeve is ED 209 in a fancy frock I also felt that Dolores would not have gone full-on "murder everyone" either. Sure, kill anyone who has wronged her but not all humans are alike, as is proven by Caleb.
