6 or 8 episodes seems to be the default. I think it works well.

(Thusnelda was a positive factor) I hope it gets renewed.
Perhaps I am missing something but I thought it covered a one off event in history (battle of Teutoburg forest) so would be a one off series?
The ending leaves it very obviously for a continuation.
There has been quite a lot of speculation from the writers about where they are going if it gets renewed.
I guess they wrote it as a one off with the scope to go further if it was successful my guess Thusnelda baby arc and the fact Wolfspeer said he would sacrifice his firstborn, also Ari has another brother out there with Rome somewhere and Segestes also could cause more issues

Well if they intend staying true(ish) to the actual events, over the next five or six years the Romans kick a lot of German ass, including two massive defeats for Arminius and the capture of Thusnelda,. They also recovered all three eagles.

Another glowing response to Queen's Gambit here.

Myself, wife and 14 year old son all smashed it yesterday and it's really good.

Selling the premise to my wife and son that "it's about chess" was particularly difficult, but once we did the first episode.....

One problem with basing things off history is that history can be messy.

The events of those years meant that the Roman empire did not extend beyond the Rhine. In that sense it was both a strategic and tactical victory. The Roman Empire did take revenge though in the short term.

Germania then virtually vanishes from the pages of history until the sequence of events that led to the fall of the western empire. That would seem to me a more natural starting place for a continuation.

As an Ozark fan I enjoyed these crime dramas:
Narcos & Narcos Mexico
Suburra
Sacred Games
Better Call Saul (if you can get past the very slow start)
Cocaine Coast
Top Boy (Summerhouse is the beginning)
Watched Top Boy but didn’t know about summer house.

Will add these the watch list.

I’m a fan of dark Nordic crime too - and happy with subtitles many of those are extremely good

ah yeah, pity, but predictable i guess as they wring the life out of a format. Halfway thru series 2 and i can see it dropping off a bit. Didnt realise there were so many!

Just finished Suburra. Bit disappointed that someone on here suggested they don't know how the show could continue which strongly hinted that one or both of the main characters were going to get killed. I watched the last 4 episodes with this knowledge which took the edge off the powerful last episode

I was 17 when the first one came out so was bang on the target age and loved the first one and also loved the Reunion - think I saw it in the cinema when it came out 8(!) years ago with a bunch of people who also saw the original when they were 17.
I think it's one of those films that is made for the fans - if you didn't like the original you won't like it, but if you enjoyed it then I think it's the best of the sequels.

Just finished Haunting of Bly House. Absolutely brilliant. Can anyone recommend something similar that you can watch with a 13 year old.

The first person with a positive review of Bly.
It took a proper hammering on here a few pages back.

I’d suggest Raising Dion.

If you liked Bly, absolutely anything else on any channel will be an improvement.
