Films I watched this week (NO SPOILERS) (Vol 3)
Discussion
Another one for The Tomorrow War, but more of a question.
If the aliens have over run everywhere, killed everything, where are they still getting food and fuel for the vehicles and the weapons and ammunition from?
is it just back up from years ago, the girl commander says "Europe, Asia are dead" the war has been going for 3 years..
or am i way over thinking from watching too many cinemasins videos on youtube?

Fear Street 1994 Part 1 - Netflix 2021
Teen slasher film which tries to be Scream mixed with Stranger Things
Tale of a bunch of kids who live in 2 neighbouring towns, Shadyside(dump) & Sunnyvale(nicest place on earth).
Clichéd kids disturb a witches grave who then have to feel her wrath as they are hunted by her minions.
Thought it might have been good as rated 18 however it's more for teens and apparently based off books from a Teen Horror writer.
Good soundtrack though from 1994, although im sure some of the songs were not from that year.
2 other parts are to be released in the next 2/3 weeks.
The next one is set in 1978 and appears to be a Friday the 13th rip off with kids getting killed by a masked slasher at a camp site.
5.5/10

The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard
The only films where Ryan Reynolds develops a personality. Good brainless action, almost enjoyable.
Woke without being woke.
6 out of 10. No, that's good for me.
Brainless action, almost enjoyable is right. You can see the legacy of Hudson Hawk in films like THWB, not always a good thing in this case - and what was with the weird EU subplot? Also watched The Ice Road - Liam Neesom is Liam Neesom in an unintentionally funny film that is strangely watchable and entirely predicable - I enjoyed it. If you're going to do brainless action films, do it like this. The only films where Ryan Reynolds develops a personality. Good brainless action, almost enjoyable.

7 George Osbourne look a likes out of 10.
Molly's Game, Not seen it before but it kept me engaged even though I understood very little of the poker talk, or law talk. The characters were engaging and well acted. Worth seeing.
Attila is a perfect film? You need to see more movies. It a fair crack at a sci-fi action movie, and I enjoyed it but it's not even in the top 25 humanoid robot movies.

Although I would imagine that a fair few of those "top 25 humanoid robot movies" owe a huge debt to the original Battle Angel Alita (aka Gunnm) manga. It's a shame that the Alita film was a rather poor adaptation of the original source material, although they did have a fair stab at the world building.

Don't know what you're talking about.
Anyway, I have seen many, many films in my 51 years, I just happen to have a soft spot for this.
Not an appealing title but, "Love and Monsters"
A good take on a post apocalypse theme.

Watched delightful performances by Donald Sutherland and Michael Jagger in a film called The Burnt Orange Heresy - I was expecting a bit of a "Thomas Crown" type film, and it wasn't as good (as either of them), but nicely filmed and scripted.... Or maybe reminiscent in parts of the terrific West End stage play "Art" for anyone who is familiar, but sadly didn't deliver on potential promise there either.....and overall a disappointing finish which could have been a fair bit better, but 7 impressive canvasses out of 10 art collectors for the rest of the production values and individual performances. Blue in parts......

I'm partway though this (I keep meaning to go back to it and finish it off)A good take on a post apocalypse theme.
It's surprisingly touching and gentle so far (I was around halfway through when I decided to come back to it another time).

Watched that last night and wasn't really sure what to make of it to be honest, although I did last all the way to the end. Thought Jagger was surprisingly good and did 'creepy' pretty well.
Scanners (1981) The David Cronenberg Horror that I was too young for at the time, free on Prime.
A young man with mental problems, living as a bum, is found by a doctor and given a drug that removes the overwhelming voices in his head. The doctor goes on to explain that he is one of 237 known "Scanners" - telepathic humans - and that he wants him to infiltrate an organisation of evil Scanners. A good/evil thriller ensues. Dated, unsurprisingly, but 7/10
