Given the almost racing certainty that these people won't face justice in the courts, it's hard to avoid the wish, however irrelevant it may be, that something bloody nasty befalls them, whether it's falling down a deep hole or illness. They don't deserve to be in employment and they should be punished. Odious, spineless scum the lot of them.

"I wasn't properly briefed by the PO team on the requirements of my role as an Expert Witness", I would guess.

Indeed - the circular blame game will continue!

Which is why it is unlikely that we will see any criminal prosecutions of those involved. In addition I would expect that their defence will also include something along the lines of “ because everything has been in the public domain through the inquiry we cannot get a fair trial.”

Is there a hierarchy within the inquiry's KCs? Mr. Beer seems to get the most juicy witnesses.

The younger guy who was up against Leighton yesterday isn't as good (not to say he's bad, but you appreciate Beer all the more)

Wonder if Beer will do all 5 days of Vennels or if it will be split.
Beer is Head of Chambers. Emma Price is a member of the same chambers. Beers is effectively the boss I think.

Both him and Price have worked on some major inquiries eg Grenfell. So I think they are a team.

Williams was on the ropes for most of yesterday. This morning I think they'll be calling for a stretcher to drag him out of the ring.

I'd hate to be in his shoes.

I don't think I've ever seen a performance like this, I'm surprised he hasn't been pulled up on it, he's holding the whole process in contempt by acting in this way.

It's painful to watch, I think I'd have jumped over the desk and grabbed him by the throat by now, I have no doubt that Williams is going home smirking pleased that he's sticking to his plan.

Has anyone one ever struggled to understand plain English to the level this joker is pretending to?

Mr Beer is getting very annoyed. He is hiding it behind his ultra-courteous manner.

Mr Stein may adopt a different approach, I suspect.

Whilst some think it's all very circular hence no charges will be brought, if Williams was charged and performed like this a hostile prosecution barrister would make mincemeat of him and his non answers with accusations flying across to Williams and the jury would be free to draw their own conclusions based upon his obfuscation, at the moment he's a witness rather than the accused.

The fact that he's effectively sat there shrugging his shoulders doesn't mean he can't be charged and convicted, what I do think they need is a super star witness, a super grass if you like even if that means giving them immunity, to help blow the case wide open.

His performance is disgraceful.

He thinks his bumbling, chaotic responses will somehow allow him to be distanced from the obvious delaying tactics that he and his colleagues were cooking up between them.

He seems to have forgotten the meaning of words that he himself wrote. Utterly lunatic.

On the assumption he is legally qualified, I would like to think that his professional body is taking notes on his answers and performance.
