Deutschland 83, 86 & 89
Discussion
Cannot say that I am enjoying this as much as the original 83.
The new characters like the African Warlord, indestructible hairy South African mercenary, Arab Arms dealers, James Bond German Milf type he is having an affair with, are not as believable as those in the original series. The lead character as well has become more hardened & less likeable. And it sums it up, the new story line, when his ex-girlfriend has risen from being a single-parent 20 something to be a senior member of the Stasi in just a few years.
I have still not worked out the relevance of the sub-plot of the ex-General's ex- army son in West Berlin, but at least he is one of the more believable characters.
Hopefully things will improve when the action moves to Europe.

I probably didn't enjoy it as much as the original 83. The seeming lack of an integrated story that ran through the whole series was a bit difficult. That being said, I thought 86 really hotted up towards the end: the story reappeared, that sense of not knowing who was on which side....really liked it.
