I’m a regular watcher of the show and reader of this thread and I enjoy both!
I normally take most negative comments of the show and their work with a pinch of salt - blaming filming schedules and lack of “insider. knowledge “ for most criticisms.
However I could not understand why on a bare metal restoration you’d rough up a new gear knob to make it look old??

I couldn't understand why they got it painted and glazed, then started the electric conversion. Would have been much more sensible to do the bulk of it earlier.I lost count of how many times they told us it was the first one they'd done.

I am still struggling to see how that Mini is only 40kg heavier, the battery pack must be tiny in which case the range is going to be crap.
Think you've got 60Kg in hand going for a full Tesla drive unit vs the original engine + gearbox, so ~100Kg of battery? Which isn't going to be much, though probably the most there's actually space for. Not sure what battery modules they'd go for in their build.I've been watching these programmes recently and am struggling to believe two things,
1. The sheer amount of money owners are chucking at conversions.
2. That if you make an old, open car a whole lot heavier and stiffen up its suspension it's not just going to bend about in the middle.
And that's before we get to the recently converted Ferrari whose charging technology was already going out of date and stuff needed replacing.

Ford have seen the writing on the wall for EV conversions.

I saw this news recently too, and thought good on Ford for spotting a nice new niche in the market. It should also knock back the price of crashed Tesla parts. I'm sure Mogsy said something like five ir six thousand pounds of tesla small motor as it was being offered into place. I initially thought he got the weight wrong https://www.thedrive.com/news/42974/fords-281-hp-e...

then quickly realised he was talking price.
Do Vintage Voltage use nice new Tesla crate motors or are they “previously enjoyed”?![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)

The Series 2 Landy, full resto and the e-motor, drive and batteries.
They mentioned not wanting to scratch the 7 grand paint job, but I wonder what the total cost was?
The electric conversions start from £30k (according to their website) and they mentioned a £40k refurb cost, so I'm guessing not much change from £100K all in!! They used the larger Tesla motor and quaife LSDs (or similar) which all adds to the cost. They mentioned not wanting to scratch the 7 grand paint job, but I wonder what the total cost was?

They all come out of dismantled cars as Tesla don't sell anything at all. As far as I understand, not even parts for people outside their network to fix cars. They, along with Apple etc, are the ones in the sights of the Right to Repair movement. S6PNJ said:
