Yup especially as when the car was revving to 3k rpm the time on the clock was 12.29 and then after his seal fix they show the car sitting at 750 rpm with the same time of 12.29.

'noticed that, too.

I had to rewind in case I was imagining it. What bks!

Has anyone experience of a car revving that high, at idle, due to an air leak?

I could see, maybe, 500 revs fluctuation, but 3k seemed extreme.

Half watching the Land Rover episode tonight. anyone else notice the scenes where it was driving through the muddy bog at the start it was seemingly being towed! Several times you caught a glimpse of a rope to the bottom left of the screen.

Wonder if it was more knackered than they’d let on.

It`s been mentioned on MB`s Insta. It was a plank of wood in the water that got pushed along by the Disco.

Ahh, makes sense! Don't really browse Instagram so missed it entirely. Looked for all the world like a rope!
Thanks.

I made the same comment last week, I also missed the clarification video!

Still funny that it looked like they had purposely used planks as 'duck' boards

P100 Cortina pickup tonight, quite enjoyed that one, other than the fact that they went to the trouble of fitting a new crankshaft oil seal but no mention anywhere of a new clutch at the end, right oh Mike.

And he wonders why he gets grief on social media all the time, you go to the trouble of taking the engine and gearbox out of a near 40 year old car, but expect us to believe you didn’t fit a new clutch… smash

I thought that but at 30k miles I’d imagine they thought it was in good enough nick not to warrant it.
Enjoyed the episode. Something very different. I wonder how many SA cars are being bought back here?

Good one last night, enjoyed the bits with the new heater matrix and how the choke worked

The nice snug fit for the matrix was strangely satisfying

Agree with above a new clutch should have been fitted as well as a new exhaust. Not sure painting underneath without removing some of the rust would be long lasting though.

Still enjoyable to watch though, buyer was a toughie must watch MB and do as he does smile

I remembered when Drew & Paul went to a place like that, Drew was going on about getting a new engine for the car, Paul said no, then suddenly it needed a new engine.

Yes, I meant it was pretty likely the clutch plate was contaminated due to the oil leak. Also that oil seal job was entirely possible without taking the engine out. But I guess it’s part of the show.

I remember Ant, whenever he did a job on the drivetrain, said he always put a new clutch in as it was daft not to.

Mate of mine has a Mk3 Cortina P100 from South Africa, came with a tuned engine with a 4-barrel holley on a modified manifold. He couldn't get it to run right so swapped it for a Weber that the V6 would usually have come with.
It will be for sale soon if anyone is interestedsmile

Did Mike drive it from Scotland to the Midlands on the seller's trade plates?
Did they change the speedometer to mph?

Watched it last night and I think that was possibly the most dumbed down episode that I have ever seen. Quite awful.

The car is great but all the way through, right from the start when he couldn't get the heater working, I said someone has probably taken the thermostat out. Even if that wasn't the case they would need to change it for a colder one but no, never mentioned, along with so much else. And yes, the bloody clutch. He took it off and I do not believe for one second that he put the old one back on... unless he really is the penny-pinching, W.E.Bodgit, back-street dealer that he comes across as.

Was there any need to take the engine out to replace the crank seal ?

We currently get the US based episodes down here and I occasionally catch a bit of them.

Last week was the Merc 300TD. At one point they mentioned it had either a new, or re-covered, dash but I’m sure they didn’t include the cost in the total spend, probably because it was hugely expensive to do.

It's turning into a fine comedy show now.
The 20 mins of dicking about before and after spoils it.
