My feelings too. MLB comes across as a genuine petrolhead and achieves the right balance of humour and knowledgeable commentary.
His little anecdote about driving his cousin's Camaro as he wasn't old enough to drive it, and by the time he was the transmission was fked made me laugh. I wonder that when they binned JC if they'd just replaced him with MLB you'd still have a killer show. Agreed with the consensus that Rory is the weakest link and that he's not going anywhere.

I've been in the audience twice this series, once for the first show and again for the last (filmed on Saturday just gone). Rory doesn't even make it as far as the sofas and the number of lines he has in the studio could be counted on two fingers. He is so sidelined it's untrue, I feel sorry for the guy.
They even manage to edge him out in the filmed segment of the last show. Perhaps he makes a decent cup of tea? I'm struggling to think what else he contributes to the show.
I'm sure he's a nice guy and all that but they need someone stronger. Hammond was immensely annoying but at least he registered on your conscious whereas Rory doesn't really have any presence whatsoever.
I was there for the filming of the first show, and he spent most of the afternoon watching proceedings from a gantry overlooking the set (basically behind the big circular platform that the red cars are displayed on). I felt quite sorry for the guy as well. They even manage to edge him out in the filmed segment of the last show. Perhaps he makes a decent cup of tea? I'm struggling to think what else he contributes to the show.

Great opening episode, and the chemistry between the three is building nicely. Not much to not like, the chain racing looked a proper hoot. Of the three cars I think I’d take the Jag, out accelerated the other two comfortably, a fraction of the price of the McLaren and the Mustang couldn’t use half its power.
Series looks like it’ll be a good ‘un.
My Mustang was £42K a fraction of the price of the mclaren and half the value of the jag, surely the best bang for buck of the three (i know mines a 5.0 GT and the Hennessy would be nearer the price of the jag)Series looks like it’ll be a good ‘un.

The one MLB was driving was a Hennessey tuned (via a Supercharger) version which is where the 850bhp comes from, in standard form the GT350R would be close to that 570GT around a track & leave the Jaguar for dead take a look at Randy Pobsts lap times board at Laguna & Big Willow then look at the cars that are below (458/GT3 at Laguna for starters) it on the list, have no doubt about how good it is.
They're 65k in the states but in reality you'll pay 70-85k if you want one.
I forgot to add that Hennessey recommends the 630 conversion if you actually want to improve laptimes.

I think Rory adds a good balance to the team, not sure why so much hate for him, he is doing a good job. I think a lot watch just to pick it apart and moan about it.
I don't think people hate him at all. To me he is just a nice guy, which is nice.He did some good reports on cars in the last series that were imformative and sensible which is what I like.
Unfortunately I believe he does not get the chance to do that any more, which is a great shame. Nice guys like Rory being sensible is not what the top gear people running the show want today, he will be taken out for the wrong reasons in the end, because he is not allowed to be who he is!
Most people on this thread are not here to be picky, they are desperate for some good motoring journalism that they can relate to. Unfortunately the way things are going, this might not happen.....
They still have time to redress the problem in the next few episodes, but I'm not holding my breath.

There's plenty of good motoring journalism to be found on youtube if that's what people are looking for. TG is a Sunday evening light entertainment show designed to appeal to the widest possible audience, for ratings. They still have time to redress the problem in the next few episodes, but I'm not holding my breath.

This. On the reviews he’s done on his own I think he does a good job personally, he gives a more normal blokes view on how good a car is, especially as many people on here like to think they’re better than Chris Harris begins the wheel, they’re really not. Saying that watching him do the track driving in last nights episode it looks like his driving has improved massively since the last series.

Thanks for the links, I was thinking of putting Roush exhausts on mine but my nieghbours are 99 and 85 so I will stick with the standard ones which are loud enough for now. (it is true race red manuals are louder)
[/quote]
Is the roush exhaust not a valved system so can be quiet and loud on the click of a switch? Heard one near me a few weeks ago that was really loud but I thought sounded incredible! After watching that top gear all my time has been on YouTube mustang videos

Why do they persist with someone bring an envelope challenge still?
because it was always Top Gears idea. So they are entitled toV88Dicky said:
I'm sure Matt just slipped the F word in, when they were saying how loud that NASCAR was
Neatly done though. No bleeps, no drawing attention to it.Gameface said:
Don't think much of Reid's ability behind the wheel.
OK we get that you are a TGT diehard fanboi. You prefer Hammonds?

I really liked it. It somehow seems more colourful and crisp than The Grand Tour and I feel like I'm seeing more cars and more of the cars.
Even Rory seems to have relaxed a bit.
I don't support ther idea of a licence fee. And they can be far from independent politically. But there are some very good operators at the BBC producing great TVEven Rory seems to have relaxed a bit.

Good enough start, makes Grand Tour look rather sad. Even the 'banter' <shudder> was better than CHM who seem to have totally run out of chemistry.
I agree. It's just time together. Put any 3 guys together for that amount of time enjoying themselves and banter will follow. It's true of guys in general. The piss taking via radio in the cars looked natural. gmaz said:

- Another thing that annoyed me is the whole look theres an empty runway, im sure they wont mind us trespassing on it etc. Its tired and underestimating the audience imo.
Perhaps you would like them to include 30 minutes of footage getting permits filled in and signed, health & safety forms, insurance forms, negotiating with local government officials etc?marcosgt said:
Personally, I miss James May, he was always the best bit of the old TG team, but having dropped the truly awful "ME, ME,ME,ME, ME" Evans, they seem to have come up with a workable team who are enjoyable enough to watch.
I can honestly say, I never once thought "This would be so much better with the old team", although I did think "Oh, for God's sake" a couple of times!

I wonder if when his TGT contract expires we'll see Mr May come back for a few episodes. Like Eddie Jordan does occasionally. Be some coup if the BBC could pull that off.I can honestly say, I never once thought "This would be so much better with the old team", although I did think "Oh, for God's sake" a couple of times!

Anyhow
Road Trip. I enjoyed it and it was different, but a bit overlong
SIARPC - I like Bryden. And I like the in car training vids. But it's always the weakest part of the show. Interesting to get the guest to commentate
Just felt like there should have been a standalone test in there somewhere.
