Continuity was crap as well - pissing down one minute with soaking wet roads & the next shot was sunshine & bone dry roads.

At least get the basics correct.

Good bit of telly. Top gear has been destroying cars for a long time so I don’t think that needs addressing.

I thought there were a few genuine moments in this episode and it all felt like they were a team.

Good effort.

Well I was disgusted. As a previous 106 Rallye owner, it hurt to see them fk that one up in the name of entertainment. Not many left, even less now.
I never understand this sort of rubbish.

It’s not your car so why are you so hurt?

If you feel that strongly about the 106 Rallye them go and buy them all.

The fact you don’t even own one now compounds the weirdness.

Well said, some days I think this place* has lost it's fizzing head such is the rampant bile that pours out of some orifices. OK everyone has an opinion bla bla bla.

Enjoyed that. The scenery is something else although it occurred to me that the higher up you go, the smaller the mountains in the background are so it actually got less scenic as it went on hehe

Those roads looked genuinely dangerous and I do wonder where this all leads as they try and make it more and more spectacular.

Most remakes are pointless, even more so when poorly acted.
Freddie has the onscreen persona of a house brick.

(Caveat, I was overcome by sleep so may have missed the best bits.)

Recorded and watched later in evening. Was on my phone for most of it then bed before it ended.

Bile. Reminded me of the India special, not funny, not interesting.

Shame for the cars. Love the Rallye and the R4, oh well. Not many S1 left these days. Nice to see one on telly even if they did smash it to fk.

It’s the job of other people to buy them and then do as they are told with them. That’s the basic rule. You must buy what they tell you to buy, keep it how they tell you to keep it. Use it how they tell you. And if you ever dare break the rules then the internet must be set ablaze to rally a lynch mob to persecute you for your evilness and failures.

I came across this type of specialist when younger and owned a car that triggered them. It was always the same conversation of instructions and laws to be followed, mixed in with some serial numbers to show they knew more than you and were a superior human. They are the reason to avoid almost all car events.

I am older now and don’t feel obliged to just stand there being polite. In fact it is sometimes quite cathartic when interrupted by a specialist who is desperate to tell you that you’ve destroyed a rare 1972 car by not returning it to as it left the factory like the hundreds of other saleroom clones to respond with some medical advice and accompanying travel tips.

As for the show, I find myself tempted by Renault 4s again. There is something weirdly cool about them and I tend to put them in the same group as the 2CV, mini and cinquecento.

And while I dont feel I’ve lost an hour of my life because I’m an adult who not only made the decision to start watching but at any time if I felt it wasn’t really worth my time could simply turn it off, I don’t think it was a classic episode.

Funnily enough, what someone mentioned above might be a good idea. A nerdy ten minutes blasting through the basics of what has been done to the cars to try and get them to last longer would be something new and would appease us lot who like to be a bit nerdy over cars.

I also thought the dialog was unsophisticated, just a bit too much BBC3/ITV and they usually manage to tell you something about the location that you didn’t already know.

Absolutely fine but of TV but very average.

That's pretty much my thoughts, their relationship feels contrived - before you had interplay between 3 different characters, now it seems to be more one dimensional, i.e. just shout at each other.

I was in Nepal about 30 years ago - it's changed a lot!

OK TV but not a slack-jawed classic.

Why do people keep demanding things are pulled off tv as they don't like it. Why not just watch something else?

Only a few months ago you were scoring Top Gear 8/10. 8/10 to being booted off TV within an episode is harsh.

Oh dear, boo hoo, poor you. What’s it to do with you what they do with something they bought and paid for, and if it hurt you that much you poor thing, why didn’t you bother saving the one you used to own, or buy another one so the nasty man doesn’t upset you so much in future?

Because he, and other basement-dwellers, can pop up on the internet and tell everyone that they didn't like it, in the hope that this might bring some sort of validation to their worthless existence.

It had some beautifully scenery and best of all some cars and some challenging driving. Which in my book ‘ticks more boxes’ in my interests than 99% of the Christmas tv scheduling. Yes, it could do without the fabricated ‘blokey insults‘ bks but IMO it’s the best of fairly meagre pickings.

Good point - it's been fairly dreadful over the festive.

Ahh didn't you get want you wanted for Xmas you miserable c0ck?

I am sorry all, I thought I was on a car enthusiast website, silly me. Fancy having a love for these cars (and all special cars including French tat) that it pi55t me off when I saw one smashed up. I had one for years, cherished it, so I make no apologies...

Next year I hope they go canoeing in an e Type or pot holing in a rolls Royce but don't worry I will be here for you all...
