A couple of long interviews with Mike and Ant here

Mike - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-1p1kDoOPM (I know Mike is biased but Edd seems like a right tw*t)

I'm not so sure about Mike. I questioned the whole reason why Edd left when I saw Ant do his thing, as he seemed to do it more in depth in some ways than Edd. But then I watched the episode of the MINI and for me thats when Wheeler Dealers jumped the shark. It's pandering not to a proper car community now but to does who like watching the dramatised American stuff. And Mike's been a pure bellend really about the crisitism about the show since Edd has left referring to those people as "trolls".

Hmmm, I just watched this - Brewer sounds a bit bitter. He also said that Edd just upped and left. IIRC did Edd not recommend Ant to replace him? I seem to recall Ant saying this when he took over the role.

Brewer has always been bitter about it, whereas Edd has been more magnanimous about it up until recently. When he left he wouldn't be drawn on it, just giving the direction thing as the excuse. But recently he's been that bit more cutting of Brewer, which makes me think Brewer has done more to cause Edd to be bitter than the other way round. There is a video on Edd China's YouTube channel that shows you, early when he left, that the production company/Brewer were dragging their heels with his tools and were just being numptys really.

I really, really don't like Brewer. I could tolerate him, but now that Ant is there I can't stand them. You know a show is bad when your wife comments on the show asking whether it was needed to see Ant in such tight fitting t-shirts.

hehe
I think it was mentioned in here way back when Ant started that there was definitely a hint of 'Top Gun volleyball scene' about how he was being directed on screen. I don't recall an episode yet where he hasn't been seen in a weightlifter pose carrying a bumper/exhaust/bonnet/something else wide and heavy.

Just watched the Chevy C2/10 pickup episode.

It's the first one I've seen with the new guy, he seems ok but he was mid upgrades, and it just cut to the costs.
No mention of fitting the steering column, wheel or the small matter of AC, atleast until the reveal with Brewer, no explanation at all, just felt like a poorly edited YouTube video.

I actually liked the end result.

I've met Edd, earlier this year, apart from being a giant he was a thoroughly nice chap and was there in a charity capacity so hats off.

I remember him saying that the production company were making it difficult for him to get his tools back, which is a very low and spiteful blow. I'd be knocking down doors if someone was withholding my tools.

A lot of the tools were product placements so I doubt he actually owned them..... and seeing as Paul did most of the spannering......to me Ed was more of a presenter than a mechanic

Which is ironic as the reason given by Mike for the parting of the ways was that Mike felt that Edd should do all the spannering and Edd saw himself more in the role of "the face of spannering" / presenting.

I always thought Mike's argument was tenuous at best, as I don't for one moment believe that Mike researches all the cars, inspects them, personally haggles with the sellers, or does pretty much anything that he purports to do on the show, yet apparently Edd should personally do all the spannering?

I thought it was heading for a 2 part episode, but then it was finished !

It does seem to have taken a strange turn with regard to content. There's a lot more of Mike fking around with the buyer and then with buying parts, while Ant seems to one job in infinitessimal detail, whilst the WD fairies fix everything else.

Me too. They talked about the AC upgrade throughout so I thought we see Brewer going to the supplier and picking it up followed by decent bit of spannering but nothing.

Don't know if it's been mentioned before but I always used to laugh at a £1500 van with what must be a £20k plate on it.

From what I'm lead to believe, he does do the majority of the work. I think they send a runner ahead of time to see the cars before sending out the whole film crew though.

I just caught up with the Chevrolet truck episode - I too was left confused by the abrupt ending to this one. I came on here to see if I had missed something, but looks like others were surprised too. I was actually looking forward to seeing how they would go about adding air conditioning to an old truck that never had it, but the literally don't mention or show it apart from to say they did it!

I'd heard that the car has been researched, sourced, and even bought, before Mike and the film crew turn up. That's why the seller is always fine with an unaccompanied test drive.
