If someone could crack the recording facility on the HD box so I could use it as a freesat box I would ditch them tomorrow. Trouble is I am in a really poor location for freeview otherwise I would swap over.

Sky used to do some form of freesat card but don't know if they still do-if so I may need one of these?
When the entitlement for the paid for services are removed, you can still view all the FTA services - BBC, ITV, etc. - using the existing card aka 'freesat by sky'.

50% off, free broadband and 50 quid credit still going.

I believe some do even better, but I got to "take this or do one" and decided it was close enough.

Just left Sky.

Top tip to avoid a protracted phone call, should you really be wanting to leave (and the truth, in my case): tell them you've already moved across to another provider. In my case, BT.

They'll rightly assume you've zero interest in hearing of any further deals.

It doesn't stop them in future though. They hammered us with offers even though they knew we were tied into a 12 month contract elsewhere.

I am about to cancel sky, its about £120 per month..........2 rooms plus phone and broadband. I really like the shows in the 520 range, discovery, history etc is there a way I can get those channels without sky?

BT have quite a few on their entertainment plus pack, though not as many as Sky. Discovery, History, H2, Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, ID and a few other similar ones are there.

Just cancelled and I'm already being offered 50% discount to stay through the Android app, might hold out and see if they offer me more.

Just cancelled and also getting the 50% offer showing in the android app.

I cancelled movies a couple of months ago, does anyone know if I can add movies back on now (in the notice period) so that that is included in the 50% offer when I take it?

Cheers

Got my standard package (Unlimited broadband, Phone, Original TV) down from £46.40 to £30.40 plus a £20 account credit.
I feel I could have done a bit better but was happy enough with that.
Hope this helps anyone else looking to negotiate.
Sky just called me, didn't seem to realise I had revoked my sky talk cancellation request, and gave me free line rental for a year instead of free broadband (New 12 month contract) so my Bill is now £20.50 all in.

I was thinking of cancelling but couldn't be bothered to go through all the rigmarole so I phoned them to see what they could do. First bloke offered me about 24% off which i didn't take.

Then I remembered seeing a 35% offer for existing customers on the net so clicked on the link which had unfortunately expired. Got onto live chat with an Asian guy and told him about the expired offer and he immediately applied it to my account. Ditched skygo extra as well as I only watch live TV through that which you can still get on 2 devices using the standard skygo.

Quite happy with this as I'm now paying less than when I signed up a year ago.

Got my letter today, £4.50 pm increase and that's just TV.

Love the way they don't tell you the new payment, just the increase, probably because £80 odd per month is so fking much.

It's ridiculous isn't it. The monthly fee will soon approach what the BBC charge for a whole year and the BBC make their own TV shows and run News depts etc and don't have advertising!

A lot of people dont look at the wider picture as everything is 'how much is that a month' so shrewd marketing on skys behalf.

"Oh its only another fiver a month..."

Not wishing to buck the trend here, but I just got a letter saying my bill was going down by £1.50 a month!
Had to re-read it several times and even got the wife to double check...Yep, Sky have written to me to tell me my bills are reducing by £1.50 a month!

Got my letter today, but not opened it yet. But I don't think it'll be a 'good news' letter, as in reducing the cost smile

Well that £25 per month was short lived, just had a letter telling me it's going up by £4.50. I can see why they offered it now!
