Has anyone mentioned The Ratline? It's been out for a while but I only just listened. Very well told story about a Nazi war criminal on the run.

It's on the same podcast feed (Intrigue) as Tunnel 29 which I'm told is very good too. That's next on my list...
The rat line was very good. Thanks for the recommendation.

Have been listening to Gossipmongers as suggested above. I'm on the fence — it's sometimes very funny, but sometimes not, and some of the stories just sound like the kind of nonsense that gets passed around by bullies at school.

Another recent favourite is The Anthropocene Reviewed, which is literally a guy (a well known American author) delivering little essays on all sorts of things and giving them a rating. Sounds odd, but some of them are excellent.

I've also been listening to Bad Batch, which is a Wondery series about the fast-growing and very dodgy stem cell industry in the US.

Broken. The Geoffey Epstein story. Fascinating account of a gruesome land and his helpers.

Agreed but that's what the +30s skip button is there for wink

On a (sort of) related point, which podcast app do people use? For some reason I've always found podcast app UI's really difficult.

I use spotify all the time for music, but I can't seem to get along with it for podcasts (mainly due to the apparent lack of ability to easily subscribe or playing episodes in random order). I use the apple podcast app but that randomly plays episodes from any podcast I subscribe to, rather than playing the next episode in a particular podcast.

Is there a really simple app out there that just does what it says on the tin? Allows you to search and subscribe to a podcast, see all of the episodes easily, allows you to play an episode and have the next one follow on at the end, allows you to skip << >> 30s for the adverts etc? I always seem to be at least four clicks away from doing the most simple things (1st world problems etc).

I use Podcast Republic. Like you, I think interfaces are often more complicated than they need be. PR seems to be one of the 'better' ones, but I'm open for more recommendations.

Sounds like you're on an iPhone, but for those of you on Android, I've got on pretty well with Pocket Casts. My only gripe was that it didn't remember which podcasts I'd listened to (or marked as played) when I switched phones. I'm unsure if that's since been added as a feature.

I think it's free now too, when it used to be a few quid.

I use Podcast Addict thanks to a previous recommendation on here. Allows me to subscribe to podcasts and automatically download episodes when I'm on wifi.

Pocket Casts has been OK for me, apart from refusing to manually download episodes a couple of years ago. Now it automatically loads every new episode of my podcasts to my playlist without downloading and downloads other without queuing! I can't turn either off. I just want to get through the downloads and start on a new app, but even that isn't easy.

Is there any way to export history with your subscriptions (Android)?

Really have to say a huge thank you for this pointing me to this little gem clap

I started series 1 episode 1 & I was in tears of uncontrollable laughter listening to this on my commute today .

Immature, Childish , juvenile & bloody ridiculous .

Cheers fella

I tried it again today, the incessant cackling is intensely annoying, had to turn it off.

Dr Death it really good....that bloke was off the scale.

It wasn't what I expected but GM is very funny when they get a good story. I don't get the bit where they shout the best one out of the window though.

I’m definitely looking for some new podcasts.

Here’s my library,

Just enjoyed Joe Rogan’s podcast about Bernie after recommendations on here. Looking to listen to some of his others but they seem to be recently about comedians I don’t really know.

I usually listen to them when running so can’t really be arsed starting one and having to change it after 5 mins if it’s a bit rubbish hehe

Most podcast I like are about half an hour so they work well for me running the Joe Rogan ones are all over an hour though and they don’t seem to get into the topic for ages.

You should be able to export a ompl file, but ime it doesn't work all that well.

I use antennapod, very simple and lightweight.

There seems to be a few overcasts is it a podcast or app?

I binge listened to Gossipmongers over the course of last week after seeing it recommended it in here. It's unbelievable, some of the gossip/stories had me almost unable to breathe I laughed so much. Len and the naughty widow is a particular highlight hehe
Going to check this out, I usually find Joe Wilkinson and Ross Noble etc funny.

Dan Snow's History Hit is another history themed one worth a listen. Snow is pretty lightweight but the guests are all first rate and he has the decency to let them speak. It seems advert heavy so keep your finger on the Fast-Forward button.
I really like this too, he’s had some great ones recently.

He used to be a bit preachy about trump and brexit but seems to have stopped it now. I think after trump won, he did some ‘topical” podcasts about dictators and the worst presidents etc, hehe
