So explain what the producer did to Clarkson to justify it. He didn't run the hotel, he wasn't the cook who refused to make hot food. He was the messenger.
But his job was to look after the team and make the arrangements with the hotel. He should have organised hot food in advance of the arrival making arrangements to keep the kitchen staff available . Not an unreasonable expectation at the end of a demanding day in a very nice hotel.

My opinion was that Clarkson got his side of the story in first because he has known for sometime that there is a mole in the Top Gear production team who has been active for some time and if he didn't admit it, they would shop it to the Mail/Mirror pdq.

Wonder if the mole will now release "What really happened behind the scenes at Top Gear" exclusive that he has been sitting on?

Coming to a tabloid near you on the weekend.rolleyes

According to the BBC, Clarkson reported himself for the incident, but Tymon didn't make a complaint. Has he used this escapade as a convenient way out of TG? Clarkson is a legend, a man whose achievements and lore grow only stronger from this incident.

If BBC think Top Gear can be reformatted again, I think they are deeply misguided. How do you reformat one of the world's most popular TV programs without the end result looking like anything other than a massive failure in comparison? It's quite clear that Hamster and May will go with Clarkson to whatever project comes next, which they'll no doubt turn to gold, while the BBC will be stuck with some hapless stand-ins trying to replicate the magic that Clarkson and co brought to TG, while ratings plummet and international demand for the program dies out in a fashion that will make the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction look like a minor event.

The amount of money that this will cost the BBC, I bet they are wishing that Oisin fking Tymon had just got the steaks in. No doubt they'd have much rather kept Clarkson, but I can understand their position that they have to get shot of him. It's everybody's loss, except Oisin, who will probably scoop a hefty payout of licence fee money for the long term mental damage he will no doubt suffer as a result of a tussle in a hotel bar over a steak.
How's it 'oisin fking tymons fault?

He probably booked the hotel and food and assumed it would be sorted the same as any of us would of done.

So you phone the hotel and book the rooms, food and state the team will be arriving late and will need a hot meal, the hotel says no problem.

What more can you do? If they had a contract with the hotel but on the day the chef said fk it i'm off home what's can you do?

I am frankly amazed that there are people on here still defending JC and blaming the BBC.

I will admit I signed the petition and I know wish I hadnt. It was a mistake.

There is not a single situation where you get away with verbally abusing and physically assaulting a co worker, especially so of you are effectively on a final warning.

It's sad that TG as we know it is over but is over. On to new things.

Rumors of Chris Evans, Johnny Vaughn and Jodie Kidd to replace them.... sounds like the worse trio you can pick
Have Keith Lemon instead of Evans...that could be worse?
In the unlikely event of the BBC seeing sense, an ideal replacement who would more than adequately fill Clarkson's shoes would be Ed China. To see the even taller than Clarkson China alongside miniscule Hammond would surely bring a smile or two.

Plus, Ed China's in depth knowledge and expertise of things automotive combined with his fine presentation style in front of the camera would be a truly "what's not to like" scenario allowing the show to go on even if it is not as we knew it .... which could be a refreshing change for the better bonus.

There again, if it's decided to bury Top Gear permanently or for a few years as happened in the past ... who knows. I for one will miss the show if it is permanently off our screens ... frown

I know what he did was wrong.
I know the BBC are right to dismiss him.

I do not care about these things. I want Top Gear, with Jezz, May, and Hamster.

I'm sure most people on here are of the same mindset.

HMMM but is that what happened ? I read that the producer had agreed a cold platter, surely given it was his job to look after the team at 8pm when he knew they would be ate he would be on to the hotel to make arrangements for a hot meal . I have seen no suggestion it was the chef going home and refsuing to stay but that they were not asked to stay?

Though it pains me to say it, and utter bombshell that it is, what Piers Morgan has written makes an enormous amount of sense and is rather sage advice.

As he says, there is no reason for Clarkson to enter into another show "on the rebound", so to speak - he's not destitute and can afford to take a sabbatical.

I think Piers has gone up in many peoples opinions following that.

Agreed. He might as well of titled it "I'm going to be a smug bd"

In other news, I've just found myself sat looking at the comments on the Facebook TG page, and then noticed the likes, they are dropping all the time

I didn't sign it as wanted to find out what actually happened first. Police are investigating now according to morning paper.
