I assume the LeBaron was a nod to the Tom Green film Freddie Got Fingered.

Edit. Found the clip.

And Freddie has balls of steel. I've watched too many attempted rescues of cars off piers to trust a mobile crane with my life.

Amazing how much better it is without SIARPC spoiling the momentum.

If Chris Harris dies tomorrow, is this how we’ll remember him, not as a serious motoring journalist putting in years of graft writing articles, not for his top notch YouTube content but as that bloke off the telly who ran across a golf course dressed as a T. rex being ttted by golf balls? Excellent stuff!

The dumbing down of quality journalism to a level that everyone can appreciate (I haven’t laughted that much in ages, brilliant!).

Good show, but dear God, can they dub McGuinness out. Grating.

Cutting the power laps.... Christ.
They've been doing that for a couple of years.

Anyway, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nLB6xKPLAc
Fair enough, I wasn't aware. I've really not been too fussed since the CHM series and only tend to watch it if I happen to be channel hopping on a Sunday night.

I'm still shocked that the power lap is no longer a feature, for such a short window of broadcasting time I'd consider it extremely good viewing - seems really odd that they're trimming those out. Could have easily trimmed down the convertible feature or even knocked a minute off of the front of the bungee bit without really harming those?

The rest of the episode however was pretty good, I did laugh a good chunk at the golf course bit. I still can't quite enjoy McGuiness on TV but I think Freddie is suiting the role quite well, alongside Harris of course.

Yes, longest artificial route in the world.

7 pitches, up to F6b.

I got rained off it, but glad I was. Apparently the exposure combined with the smooth slab and the overhang in the top pitches is horrendous.

It's a thumbs up from me.

The trio of presenters works really well. When McGuinness was first mentioned I wasn't sure, to be honest I really wanted to hate him, but he's a really likeable bloke and works really well. Harris is great when it comes to car reviews, and Flintoff is good for the slightly crazy stuff. The chemistry between them works well, Harris and Flintoff rolling around in the mud was properly funny and shows the whole "bullying" accusations from last year were unfounded.

Hopefully they'll continue without the celeb guest slot, and I can take or leave the power lap. Admittedly the Atom would have been a bit more interesting, but most of the time to most mere mortals the difference between the latest "Zonda S Club X Sport" and "Zonda S Club S Sport R" is negligible. Plus if you're that bothered it's all online.

And the power lap is available online...

But its not a "car show" anymore is it. Just 3 guys doing silly stuff.

Have your arms grown?

90's sex offender.

I've got a MBE.

I'd like to see Jeremy Clarkson do this.

I watched it with my wife and we had to rewind it when CH was getting hit by those golf balls and the way the head bent backwards, genuinely crying with laughter.

With regards to the SIARPC, I was at the filming for this first show and they did do one - YouTube guy that had a boxing match recently.

Glad they didn’t bother showing it though, as he seemed incredibly dull.

I didn't watch much of the previous series, just didn't work for me. I watched the Nepal special though and that gave me hope for this series so thought I'd give it a go.

That's the most I've enjoyed a Top Gear episode for a very long time.

It had me in stitches, Freddie especially really is finding his feet with it now. His comments about Ben Stokes "He'll be doing this when things dry up and he gets injured" really made me laugh. Also the LeBaron pushing the SLK was great too.

I think they've got a good vibe going on now and they've each found a niche that suits them within the group. I hope the rest of the series is as good.

I really enjoyed the show. Just slightly concerned that in my opinion they tend to blow their load too early and put their best show on first. However if there are only 6 episodes then maybe they've gone for quality over quantity and all will be good.

Another thumbup here, seems, Paddy, Freddy and Chris are getting some proper chemistry and Camaraderie going. Doing the reverse of CHM and "never leaving a man behind" creates some different gags too!

I guess on the power lap they only show the good ones, and an Atom on an almost frozen track unable to get temps into tires and brakes thereby ending up at the bottom of the board is not good viewing and probably not good marketing for Ariel either (and as rightly stated, not actually the fault of the car)

Atom lap online? Why? Cut some of the boring convertible crap then.
Given the obvious difficulties with the weather it would have actually been an interesting lap to watch imo.
More like a "lap of oppo" than a dab of oppo - https://www.topgear.com/videos/top-gear-tv/ride-on...
