An acquired taste is Alvis - personally, I love 'em.
TD21 - lovely. The Special - not so much (And the weird red one was a TB14, not a Special)
The Special was a pretty car.

Like the show -
[/i] Thanks Clive, appreciated.
Couple of things though:
One, they could really drop the intro which seems to go on and on and is exactly the same as the last show and the one before that and so on.
[/i] There is a discussion about this a couple of pages back - but in brief, you cannot assume that everyone has seen the show before. I said before i would like to have the time to update but title sequences are not cheap cost and don't know about you, but I'm not planning to change my car this year! What irritates you is enjoyed by plenty but ultimately gets hopefully more people joining the club - and keeps me in business! Keep watching and see the bonus of having the time to get your tea/beer/gin sorted before the main event.
And second, it seems like an awful lot of the cars they feature don't make the reserve. Is it a way of enticing owners to go with Mathewsons in the same way estate agents attempt to reel you in with higher valuations than their competitors?
[/i] Simple answer. No.
Reserves are set by vendors aspirations (with advice) and most people, me included, think their cars are worth much more than buyers are willing to pay.
It's not in Derek's interest to take a car in with an unrealistic reserve - but he has to do his best for the vendor, that's the business, and the market decides.
Pleased you enjoy the show and thanks for your support.

Question. (Do I have to say 'genuine question'?)
1. Am I the only person that understands how to use the "quote" feature and nobody else does?
or
2. Does everybody else understand how to use the 'quote' feature, and I am the only person that doesn't?
Like this you mean?1. Am I the only person that understands how to use the "quote" feature and nobody else does?

Quite right too, didn't stop to think and could have fact checked with the man himself since Martin Shaw does the VO for Warbird Workshop after B&C - which is one of our shows as well!
Not surprising, as he's a pilot himself IIRC and owns, or used to own a Stearman.John Locke said:

Sad to see how cars like the cosworth and mk 2 rs escort fall into disrepair. But sometimes life takes over and we have more important issues and situations.
Mumbles. Nice work!
Thanks for appreciating David, lots of plans on hold now. Anyone recall that good Prefab Sprout song!

I’ve also got hooked on this. It’s a nice little escape from what’s currently going on in the world. Have been watching an episode each day this week on catch up during my lunch break whilst working from home. Very well presented, and some great characters. Favourite car so far is the superb Mk1 XR2, glad it went to a good home.

Wonder how it would go down in the USA if shown there?..
Series 1 is shown in various countries already and S2 will be available after UK run. It’s not an obvious big international seller as it has a very British soul. The ten pound Pom Aussie generation get it for sure and it’s on foxtel over there, but I’m not sure about USA. I’m sure plenty of folks in USA would appreciate and enjoy it, but you need to get passed the gatekeepers first - TV execs. who have to buy into the concept of a classic car show that deliberately sets out to be the unstructured and authentic antidote to the extremely well made and very formatted shows we get from them. It’s everything they can’t cope with - random brits doing stuff that frequently defies understanding!
