Nothing to do with 'pc' - whatever that is.

It was just st.
How do you know it wasn't 'pc' if you don't know what 'pc' is? hehe
He was just sure that the fundamental issue was that it was rubbish... Bad acting, chaotic editing, little suspense, dodgy CGI effects...

The bits some perceive as 'PC' (the anti-British Empire thing is often alluded to about the book, to be fair, for example) were the least of its issues!

Agreed - You would have thought someone would have watched it and said 'No, not good enough!' - Whoever was responsible for commissioning and signing this off needs to be looking for a new job.

First episode was good and drew me in but thought the last episode was poor.

You watched them in the correct order
Watch them in reverse and not only does it make better sense it ends on a high

Agreed. Bit like watching Mad Dogs (remember that) where the last episode was best forgotten.

To be fair, the whole of the last series of Mad Dogs was garbage, not judt the last episode.

Just watched the last episode... It. Was. Soooooooooo slllooowwwww. And nothing really happened - could have done the whole episode in about 5 minutes...

I struggled to stick with it to be honest but kept waiting for something to happen... Boy was I disappointed...

I spent ages tracking down a DVD of the last series of this. I was determined not to pay much as I'd heard it wasn't all that good, was only two episodes, and I'd only paid £1 each for the first three series. Finally weakened, gave £4.50 for it, wish I'd left it at the end of 3.

In a ruined world where there is no power, no natural light, a shortage of everything, and there has potentially only ever been one child born, how, and why is there a beautifully printed book showing how the martians were beaten?

And why was the text so randomly interspersed between the drawings?

"I don't know!"
"But why would that even be a thing?"
"Because the plot needs it"
"Plot details are TIGHT!"

wink

More seriously, there may have been a short period of time where life was kind of normal immediately after the invasion and victory, before the Red Plague took over and everything went to ste. Such a book could have been produced in that very narrow window.

They tried to make it as real world as possible so people today could identify with it.
Sadly due to time restrictions they cut a whole episode where the couple waited in for the gas man to come and connect the supply.
Some clamour rising for these scenes to be reinstated for a extended special edition DVD.

Which you can purchase from the BBC website for 19.99 - along with a full colour book to accompany the series for 29.99.

Sounds far too stressful, no wonder it was cut!

Thank you BBC
