Blackpool’s always my favourite week, and this was probably my favourite Blackpool ever. Hard to knock anyone, every dance was an absolute banger, even Angela Ripon at the bottom of the leaderboard was a dance you could watch again. Not getting the dislike for Leyton, it’s not his fault he’s superb, and it’s not his fault he was asked to go on the show - what’s he supposed to do, say no thanks, I’m too good?

Ellie, Annabel and Angela and Carlos my faves tonight, but I think that’s probably the end of the road for Angela and Kai, which is such a shame as Kai’s good value and an easy watch. Superb stuff.

Agreed a good show.

I do not think it is up to the contestant to say sorry I'm too good it is for the BBC to have a balanced array of dancers. I know it is an entertainment show but personally I would rather watch Angela S achieve a fantastic level from nothing in 9 weeks than see someone who starts from a massive advantage and then just polish the transition to another dance form.

That’s what I mean, it’s not really Leyton’s fault he was asked to the show, so it’s not really fair him getting pelters for being that good. What would people have him do?

There is nothing Leyton can do apart from dance to his best ability.

As someone said in this thread earlier, not only has he been dancing since he was about 10 years old he also coaches and instructs at dance classes. So yes, he could have said 'I'm a professional dancer, it's how I earn a living and being on Strictly is not something I want to do.'

However, stating that he is at an advantage is not denigrating his ability, frankly he's probably better than several of the professional dancers on the show.

Why would someone with dance experience turn down what’s probably the biggest TV show based around dance on the planet?

Because it's a competition for 'celebs' to see how well they can develop their dancing skills not a competition for professional dancers, but you know that. Why do you ask? scratchchin

I was thinking similar last night. All very well criticising him not being perfectly in sync with Nikita, but they were both close enough to the music that if the other one weren’t there, no-one would have said ‘you weren’t in time with the music’. So, who’s to say that Layton was slow rather than Nikita being fast (or vice versa)? Judges aren’t there to critique the professional dancers, so it seems a bit harsh to say they weren’t in time and just blame Layton for it.

Just Craig making it all about him again, I guess.

But the point being why would you turn it down if you’re asked?

Both couples’ dances weren’t anywhere near the standard of last nights’, Bobby in particular came to a near standstill after completely forgetting his routine, however he was that far ahead anyway he’d have had to have stood still for the entire routine to have not gone through.

Word on Madness - never thought they’d ever be as beige as they were tonight, a completely flat performance. And almost impossible to try and do a ballroom dance to as well. Oh, Claude: stop singing. And when you announce the tunes people are dancing to next week, let us know what the dance is too please.

Her singing like an alcoholic tramp after a session on the meths is a bit like them making a ‘feature’ of the terms and conditions of the phone in. Mildly amusing the first couple of times, then just irritating.

On that I agree with you, one of my favourite bands from 40 years ago but that was weak rehash of one of their early songs: Grey Day

My arms, my legs, my body aches
The sky outside is wet and grey
So begins another weary day

Pfff if there's ever an example of the judges not judging on that one dance and one dance alone....

Bobby lost his place twice....

Because you’d know the general public wouldn’t like you for having an obvious advantage.

But it's national exposure for him, regardless. I can understand why he's doing it. And he is a great dancer.

Very irritating in my view, almost as bad as Anton’s wittering away whenever he gets the opportunity.
