How do those fancy hubcaps on the speedtail work. Are they a posh carbon version of the spinners you used to see about 15 years ago?

the opposite surely, they are fixed and reduce drag from the spinning wheels behind

they must work in a similar principal to the self-leveling centres on Rolls Royce cars, unless they have another mechanical fixing point that I didn't see from the show.

Mine's Bosch, not Rolls Royce, and I just stick a powerball tablet in it, and it does the rest for me.

A decent episode.

Enjoyed the car versus plane segment.

SIARPC doesn't interest me that much, very rarely do they have a guest on that I want to hear what they have to say.

It probably says more about me but I would have preferred a straight up review and shootout with the Jimny and Duster, possibly against a used Defender of the same value rather than the stuff they did that wasn't that funny or new.

Even though I'm enjoying the series on the whole it has the feeling of a format on the wane.

Another great episode, with one notable exception: SIARFC - FFS WHY???????
So I can go and do the washing up.

Sorry, everyone.

I'd use SIARPC to load it.

But thanks!

I think the RR ones were just counterweighted and running in their own bearing to allow them to a keep upright. I believe the McLaren wheel covers are rigidly fixed to the upright through the middle of the wheel hub.

That's what it looks like to me too.

only thing that annoyed me about the episode was CH saying that the speedtail would be quicker than a Chiron SS which I seriously doubt so.

The Speedtail is quicker (by 0.3s) to 300 km/h, 12.8 vs 13.1. That was all.

Not challenging you, as I know nothing about it, but why do you doubt CH’s view re the Chiron SS?

If what he says is true, it's a ton lighter. It definitely looks to the casual observer to have a lower Cd too.

I'd read 1430kg (McLaren) versus 1995 (Bugatti). But that is still a significant difference.

Harris was going on about a central driving seat being better for balance. But as soon as you out a pasenger in, the balance is messed up, whereas if you put a passenger in a different (2 seat) hypercar, the balance will be improved, by that (broken) logic.

Seems like CH didn't really know why they did it either. Personally, I think the only think that would make you look like more of a tool than sitting in the middle, would be if you were driving a Senna instead.

This week's was quite entertaining, but not really about cars.
Not real cars anyway.

Think I'm developing a bit of a man crush on Freddie. Balls of steel last week, hard as nails this week. Hats off to the guy. I'm enjoying it for his input alone.
I would.
He used to live in a house that backed on to my parents place in Preston - after the Ashes win in 2005 there was a 3 day party at his. He did invite all of the neighbours out of politeness, and bought them all "thank you for putting up with me" presents.
It seems he started drinking at the Oval after the win, spent the night drinking at a hotel, went to 10 downing street, caused a bit of a ruckus, then went home to Preston for the party. He was still wearing the team blazer 2 days later.

My parents got to know him pretty well at the time, and although he was a bit of a party animal, he was always very polite and well spoken.
Or as well spoken as a Preston lad can be....

Simple, don't out your passengers. A gentleman wouldn't anyway...

How do you know what he aid about it?

Last week was really good. I picked my nose through most of this week.

Not interested in the Mclaren. Didn't watch it.

The Rascal bit was fairly unimaginative. And whilst they pretended Chris and Paddy got it unstuck more than once, I suspect they didn't do it alone... Half watched it.
