I agree. I thought Captain America was a little weak - far too much stuff rushed through in montages that failed to create any sense of connection with the character(s). It just seemed like it was a prelude to Avengers. Same goes for Thor which, ironically, I actually enjoyed more despite not having any real prior knowledge of the character (which is also true of Captain America).
I thought the big difference lay in the fact that CA felt the need to tell the origin story, which took up the first half of the film. Thor, OTOH, just went straight in with "he's a God, and this is Asgard, right, so let's move it along from there, shall we?". Thor holds up better as a standalone, unrelated to the Avengers, IMO. Interesting. Yes, that makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. ali_kat said:
I LOVED Thor, but then I did watch it 3 times in a row & kept noticing new bits lol
I'm thinking I need to re-watch CA now I've seen Avengers...
Agreed, thor was so much better than i thought it would be, as was captain america for that matter (a character i should have hated on paper but for some reason it just worked).I'm thinking I need to re-watch CA now I've seen Avengers...
Also, he's helped the plight of beardy long haired men everywhere. Now, if i could just grow a foot taller...

Another one of these UK cinemas are hell posts. This is getting really strange. I go to the cinema at least a dozen times a year.
Various ones in Glasgow, Hamilton, Livingston and Edinburgh.
Never, and I mean never have I had a problem with people interrupting a film. They are generally clean, if dull places and for the most part the staff are good too.
Am I alone here in only having good cinema experiences? None of my friends have ever mentioned problems with cinema visits either.
To be fair, I found cinema-going much more enjoyable in Edinburgh than I did in Reading. Although Fountain Park can be a bit st.Various ones in Glasgow, Hamilton, Livingston and Edinburgh.

Saw it in 2D last night. A-MAZ-ING seriously a great film, and surprisingly very funny. the bit where hulk grab loki and smashes him on the floor repeatedly had to be the best moment in the film.
saw it last night, awesome awesome film, always been a hulk fan but thought Iron man & Thor were brilliant to, Thor in particular was far better than in his own film, re your quote, what about the bit where hulk & Thor finish fighting, Thor looks appreciatively at Hulk & Hulk just punches him gets across just how angry he is Edited by Pvapour on Thursday 10th May 06:34

Brilliant... although I do think the Thor punch was far better as it really did come out of nowhere. Kinda like "yeah, I fought with ya but can still kick your ass punk"
haha it was very funny. but the whole movie was filled with those moments. black widow is slating loki and thor says "watch it hes my brother" black widow "he killed 88 civilians" thor "well hes adopted" Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
