We had the same experience. I find this with lots of telly though, dialogue is quiet so you turn it up then there is a fight scene or music or something and it's blasting! Annoying when we're watching something late when the kids are in bed.

I have the same issue, Live
If it's broadcast in 5.1 (and you have a 5.1 system) try increasing the volume of the centre channel. I've found on other content that you can increase the volume of the central channel/speaker which is typically used for dialogue only. I'm watching on IPlayer so can't confirm if it is broadcast in 5.1.

I'm finding this season pretty boring. Still, I've stuck with it this long, so only 2 more episodes to endure.

To be honest, it's not been great ever since the political storyline started, and Tommy becoming an MP. Should of stuck with just the criminal activities! Mind you, most MP's are just legalised criminals, I suppose.

Nah, I prefer the old Arthur that would have had a decent ruck and left blood everywhere. That's what Peaky Blinders is all about. Not Arthur being a suddenly woke druggie.
I fear you may have missed the point of that scene....woke? Jeez, some will try to shoehorn that into any discussion anywhere.

The only difference in terms of criminality between Tommy Shelby and our current crop of leaders is scale. They make Shelby look like a minor shoplifter

No, I really didn't. It was the most un Arthur thing I've ever seen. Yes, I got the message and no, I don't try and shoehorn that term anywhere, I hate it. In past seasons Arthur would have gone in, wrecked the place and cut a few bodies up.

I might well be missing something vital though, because Arthur has had a serious deterioration since the last series. And nobody seems to have noticed. He's a different character. Are they trying to portray PTSD and drug/alcohol abuse has caught up with him? Because that is a bit w...

Apologies then TS. My take was that Arthur's humanity was awakened by the scouse fellas character assassination of him and he realised who the real tough guy was, the guy who had beaten the needle. I wondered if Stephen Graham's character will reappear and show Arthur the way 'back' to brutality as he seems to be a 'clean' and very clever 'heavy'. I thought it was a fantastic scene and about as far from 'woke' as you could get. The young uns seeing Arthur use his brain and heart over his bottle and fists was also intersting, perhaps heralding a new era?

No idea. I don't like this new Arthur. I assume SG isn't just a cameo, but he might be. Like James Nesbitt (or at least his photo) in Line of Duty.

I see what you're saying, and it's right on the BBC message of "you're harder because you don't do drugs" but I just don't know. It's very not Peaky for me.

And no need to apologise. Your opinion and view is just as valid or invalid as mine!

Steven Graham's role must be pretty much a cameo because this is the last series and we're halfway through it...

Finding this latest series a bit of an endurance feat to be honest, and really starting to lose interest. Will stick it out as we’ve come this far, but the breathy depressing old Irish folk music is really starting to get on my nerves. Actually it might not be Irish I don’t know but it’s bloody horrible anyway.

On the whole it seems to be trying a bit too hard to appear cool now, probably a victim of its own success and massive fan base. I think Joe Cole chose to leave at the right time and establish himself in other roles.

I enjoyed the first two episodes, the last one reverted to too many moody slow motion long coated walking shots and not enough story.

He could definitely carry one. He's brilliant in everything he's in.

Agreed. He's even good as himself.

For me, he'll always be Tommy the tit.
