Is Vasquez Rocks where Raffi lives the same place they filmed a lot of TOS? TBBT went there on a road trip in 1 episode IIRC
Yes, it's the place where Kirk fought the Gorn - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SK0cUNMnMM amongst others.

Then Picard says "engage" and the we get a swelling of a few bars of the old tune, all the hair on my body stands up... and cut to to the humming drone again frown
Yes, me too. I re-watched the last couple of minutes just to enjoy it again. Like watching the titles of Discovery to hear the theme when the Gene Roddenberry title comes on.

That'd be a twist. Jurati is dead and Oh replaced her somehow with a combo of surgery/holo emitters etc?
I'd like to think unlikely, but who knows what twists and turns they may try to pull off.

I was leaning more towards Jurati also being an android and not realising it, just as with Daj and Soji. Of course who might control said android is another question.
Another thought was that she's a spy for the Romulans, or a Romulan spy undercover à la Rizzo.

well given that Narissa Rizzo looked human last episode....

The 'engage' was a cheesy half hearted tribute but also very very apt.

It's all a bit too knowing and trying to please the fans, but I actually really like the one episode a week (how we used to watch water cooler tv) and it's light enough on the references that's it the right side of enjoyable rather than grating.

ETA: Agree about Oh possibly replacing the Doctor. She has enough naivety to make you question it still but what else would she visit the doctor for really, plus she's already had one surgery. On the other hand, surely Starfleet would miss her.

It's all in the canonical prequel comic book miniseries Star Trek Picard Countdown. Picard commanded the Verity after Enterprise and Raffi was his first officer and she didn't refer to him by rank but as always as JL. As for her fast work on the computer I guess you never spotted Picard, Riker, Worf or of course La Forge working the computer systems to find solutions fast. Starfleet training.

Yup, there is literally a car park just out of shot on 1 side from where her mobile home thing was I think - although I guess now they can just CGI it out. Did make me think of Kirk and the Gorn as soon as we saw her sat there hehe

I just want to know when speaking to the computer became unfashionable in that world.

I'm actually quite liking the slow pace. We've taken the time to see that JL has some flaws, which is interesting, and I'm intrigued by the hired captain. The android theory person remains depressingly two-dimensional, however, and...

I'm deeply intrigued by the time sequence stuff seemingly going on with the soothsayer lady in the cube...

...and we need to suffer the endless 'No I'm not going to take you in my ship' when we know full well he is.

they just need to get on with it.

anyone else think...................

Picard actually died 14 years ago, and he's a synthetic with his memories, hence starfleets reason for making sure he never comes back and their hatred of him?

Interesting.

The start music reminds me so much of Westworld.

The intro shows a dodecahedron(?) splitting into two showing splitting of cell then a DNA strand then it becomes an eye zooming into the android iris.

Never mind Kirk and the Gorn, it's also where the evil robot Bill & Ted killed Bill & Ted.

Loving the show and actually really liked seeing Hugh again. And in a position of importance too. I’m glad they got to return to find out what happened to him after all this time as his episode of TNG is one of my favourites.

I think the pacing is actually just right. Picard is 93 after all, so running and gunning constantly would be a bit of a stretch (beyond the space ships and stuff)

This is a bit of a sci fi nerdy thing, but in this episode, Picard's romulan housekeepers very much put me in mind of a good portrayal of Grayson armsmen from the Honorverse.

We are really enjoying this series. Some real acting going on, and a good hook to get into.

Lost in Space is brain out nonsense, but visually stunning and easy to digest.

Doctor Who is just painful at the moment - wildly inconsistent storytelling, clunky tone and making nothing of decades of history.

I'm definitely getting vibes that the twins mum isn't real and is either a computer program or a hologram. Definite 'uncanny valley' vibes whenever she speaks to her and when the first twin did in Ep 1.

That's far more intelligent than anything we've seen on the show so far - so probably not, sadly.

I thought this was revealed to be the case in episode 1 when 'mum' was glitching when talking to Dahj?
