Harry needs a commission from the Spanish tourist board, those Bilbao ferries will soon be full of PHers seeking those fantastic empty roads…
Priced a return trip on the ferry for a week in October and it was just over £1000. For that price I’d be tempted to take the 30 hours crossing time to drive down and stay overnight somewhere.Saying that was a great vid and the “desert” has been added to a list places to visit.
Really enjoy Harry’s road trips
But a grand and potentially 2 days of rough seas puts me off taking the ferry!
I’d like to ask Harry if he takes a tool kit if it’s an older car? (My Elise is now 20+ years so have to go prepared on road trips now) And is there any of your cars Mrs M dislikes road tripping in? (My wife is happy as long as she can have the whole Elise boot for her stuff)

Can't say I'm hugely surprised by the mpg personally. Naff aero, a 30+ year old heavily turbocharged engine and lots of uphill travel in a loaded down car.
fantastic bit of kit though, and thoroughly enjoyed the video.
As Harry said in the video, when running on higher boost these have to run extra rich to help with cooling. They're just dumping extra fuel into the cylinders to stop the pistons from melting. He said he was getting ~13mpg even on a gentle motorway run, and it didn't seem to drop much from that even when he went up into the mountains.fantastic bit of kit though, and thoroughly enjoyed the video.

You see this what makes me laugh about EVs. This morning I drove to Southend to collect some batteries for my Lagonda, a round trip of 190 miles. Having set off early, I was on my way back by 10:30 and only stopped for 5 mins to get a coffee and flap jack in a BP garage. Home by 11:30, job done. So in a Tessa I'd be on the M3 looking at the juice gauge thinking 'st I wish I'd charged up somewhere' but that would have meant nursing a coffee somewhere for half an hour and not nipping into a basic garage on the A127.
I know, how will everyone manage?Well most people don’t have Lagondas so there’s a good leveller

Loving the Spain road trip.
13mpg sounds like something is wrong. I know my 993 is a very different and newer car but I get more than twice that on a road trip
My 993 was good on fuel. My Carrera 3.2 on track would get in to low teens but on a run 25 mpg would not be out of the question.13mpg sounds like something is wrong. I know my 993 is a very different and newer car but I get more than twice that on a road trip
I think the mapping on an old and modified 930 (albeit factory mod) would be to wind up the boost and cover it in fuelling. I suspect a modern borg warner twin scroll turbo on decent manifold and a new ECU would change the MPG a lot, I doubt Harry wants to change the originality of this car but I would just keep the original bits in a box.
I think an F40 would also benefit from the same as above, not to increase power but to keep the power the same and improve the drivability, you could still have a "b" map that apes the lag and boost of the original.
