Does anyone under the age of 30 even have Sky?
Yep, quite a lot of us.'Kodi' is not an alternative, it's immoral and verging on illegal. I'm sure you'd start moaning if the content you watch was no longer being made due to not enough people paying to watch it.
Nothing works as well as Sky.
Their EPG and recording system is first class and their 'on demand' stuff like catch-up and box sets works perfectly even on an absolutely terrible non-fibre internet connection like mine. I sometimes even struggle to watch some YouTube videos.
I have absolutely zero patience whatsoever for anything that requires fiddled with, set up, programmed, or installed. I was given a 'fully loaded' Kodi stick by a friend and after a week I wanted to smash it up. Dead links, wrong films on links, buffering, buffering and more buffering... and then I got told I would have to alter some of the source providers on it as some had been shut down and some had moved. Utter garbage.
I'm prepared to pay for the quality, convenience, content and everything else that comes with a system such as Sky. Thankfully I don't watch sports or bother with the movie package so I only pay about £30 a month.

Not just that.

This. Nothing works as well as Sky.
I've played the game of bouncing between Sky and Virgin for the past few years and the Virgin Tivo box is so awful I'm thinking of paying the contract up and going back to Sky early.
Long time user of XBMC/Kodi, but we don't use it for streams, don't know how people put up with the lack of quality, never mind the fiddling as stuff gets moved.
We pay a lot for TV as I watch a lot of sports, MotoGP, F1, Cricket mainly.

If it wasn't for my wife's reality TV addiction, I'd bin off the TV in the house. I'm much happier with books.
Still, a Kodi box isn't all bad
Haha I previously used Kodi. Now setting up my own Plex, so much easier when you just download the media and store it rather than streaming, doesn't work for things like sports but great for movies & TV series. Still, a Kodi box isn't all bad

That's akin to saying the internet is illegal.
I have a freesat card in mine, and apps to connect to catchup channels. It connects to services I pay for should I want, and repositories that are perfectly legal to watch.
Just because you can add dodgy repositories/addons, doesn't mean you have to.
It's a mediacentre framework, simply that.

I would suggest those having Kodi and using it for purely legal purposes are in a minority.

Why I used the term 'Kodi' as it's hugely unfair that they're getting a lot of flack for what isn't really their fault, but it's what everyone knows them by. I'm sure Plex can do the same thing but I haven't bothered to look as I pay for all my content. That's akin to saying the internet is illegal.

My strategy is to provide Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, I'll add in Now TV and Sky Will Be Gone.
However, Mrs Don has to agree to this. I have almost weaned her off the crap shows about moving house and painting st. Once I've succeeded with that I can go about binning the sub, box and dish.

I cancelled ages ago and I'm not missing it a bit. I only watched the Discovery channels, but even those were annoying the hell out of me with endless repeats, adverts and formulaic docu-soaps.
To replace Discovery there are loads of interesting and better made documentaries on BBC4. And Quest has repeats of all the Discovery stuff, so you can still binge on How its Made or American Pickers if you put them on series link.
I've also found myself watching loads of stuff on Youtube now - If you have a smart TV it is well worth setting up an account and subscribing to channels on anything that interests you. I get hours of new stuff on Cars, Engineering, Electronics, Science etc to watch every day.
Also www.reddit.com/r/Documentaries has links to loads of full length documentaries on Youtube.

Cancelled sky and don't miss it. Tv in our house is mainly used for peppa pig, Thomas the tank engine (etc) - we use the Xbox and a smart tv to stream Netflix, amazon prime and YouTube. We get the content that we want, when we want.

Same here, was paying £75+ for sky with no movies or sports, line rental broadband and tv.When I called them to cancel they asked why, I said my viewing has changes and my son watches a lot of streamed stuff like YouTube. Surprisingly the guy jyst gave up, told me how to cancel and that aes it. Apart from the 30 or so calls from the retention team weeks after we left.
I was also paying for Netflix and then Hayu (now cancelled - for the wife) so another £10 on top.
After the initial shock of not having the big blue EPG on the tv, the BT has now been accepted and the wife still gets to watch all the same st only now its mostly FTA.
