So yea, please move back to where I posted it as I hate being pigeonholed. Talking of pigeons I hate the noise they make when trying to fly out of the trees in my garden. So fricken clumsy
  • none TV or film related annoyance

When drag racing your opponent and he is level with you, just change up into 13th AND push the throttle pedal all the way to the floor instead of the 3/4 you had it at.

Car races where the 2nd place car always has the pace to catch the leader but never the pace to actually overtake.

See also the pod race in Phantom Menace.
Agreed with both.

There is a fair bit of this in the Goldeneye 355 Vs db5 race, though at least the cars sounded right.

Scenes in which the female character commit acts of domestic violence for the slightest provocation and it’s apparently perfectly acceptable to do so. Soaps do this quite a lot!

Marchella - driving wrong way round multi-story car park in different scenes.
Also spotted that. You can break all the rules you like. But going the wrong way around a multistorey carpark isn't going to get you out of there.

I was watching something this week, main character had a fairly basic looking Jag...

Half way through the program, it switches to a higher spec one (same colour at least) and then switches back to the basic one a few scenes later...

I don’t know if the original car wasn’t available that day for shooting, was the characters car getting a service and this was a loaner, was it a re shoot... who knows...

I got into trouble for pointing this out...

Something you often used to see in films / tv shows.

When an actor was driving a car, stops then opens the door to get out and then the car lurches forward.

Silly I know, but it used to happen so often.
I do that.

Not car related , although reading some of these are another level.

Assault rifles/pistols in films;

  • everlasting rounds in a magazine
  • pistol guy always beats the assault rifle
  • continuous muzzle flash
  • ’making ready’ more than once
Silenced weapons just making a soft "thwip" sound.
Yep, annoying. Especially the making ready just as things get serious.. but no round ejects when they do it, so it was never made ready in the first place! When it is meant to be some elite character, it’s just nonsense.

Depends, if using sub sonic ammunition in conjunction with the silencer, some weapons like the Mp5 SD the noise you hear is virtually just the noise of the working parts. But generally the silencer just removes the worst of the ‘crack’ on a rifle with normal ammo and silencer.

Other annoying thing is adverts that have the car with badge removed or a slightly different grill, even though it is obvious what the car is. Mainly tyre or insurance adverts. Don’t know why they bother.

Oh yeah.. actors having a drink with a clearly empty cup. So obvious and irritating.

Lovely period cats get used quite appropriately but they never have even a spec of dust on them.

Trouble is that now what somebody moves this thread people think needs to be film related but it doesn’t

Lighting petrol with a discarded cigarette/cigar. Absolutely won't happen and bothers me every time
Would it not ignite? Diesel no but petrol surely would?

The old thing of pulling wires out from under the dash and sparking them together to start a car.

What about the steering lock.
What about the immobiliser. Every car for years has an immobiliser.

Penetrative [ not sure if that's the right word eek probing maybe ? } Police interviews of murder suspects in TV dramas when in reality they would sensibly say No Comment from the off.

I wonder if saying No Comment to everything would have saved Derek Bentley, Evans, and Hanratty from the noose back in the day ?

Since time immemorial in films, watching a car arrive after a journey with vapour coming out of the exhaust of a cold engine. And yes to the sawing the wheel, and drivers talking to their passenger and not watching the road.
