I think so. The drones developed into quite a good storyline. The ending, while obviously the result of cancellation, was nicely done imo.
Actually that is incorrect - the ending was filmed long before the show was cancelled and was never intended to be the show's end - however, there must have been some thought that it could be the end (as these things tend to be fairly uncertain nowadays) so it served well enough.

The film was to be SG1/A/U so, whilst I won't say any more, would have most certainly figured in the "years" between S2 and S3.
I stand corrected. And surprised, as it happens.

No, no not talking about things that will spoil the ending for you!

Basically, the series had finished filming and preparation was on-going for the next season - then it broke on Twitter (where all news breaks these days) that the show was canned.. the actors heard before the producers (so I'm told). Nasty stuff.

Anyway, the show (actually the franchise) is owned by MGM, not SyFy (they just air it) and other channels in the US were interested in picking it up - that then went to a possible movie to "tie up loose ends" and finally it ground to a halt and the sets were dismantled.

So, after 14 years and countless episodes of SG - it's over. frown

But my point was that even shows as successful as Fringe, were on the point of cancellation and the final episode of season 3 was filmed with a "well if it ends, that'll do" approach - and whilst no one knew that SGU wasn't going to be picked up (ratings were high enough) I think the producers probably thought it better to give the show something of an end... and if you've not seen it, it's not a cliff-hanger but it's definitely not an end either.

Ho hum. What else can I enjoy that'll get killed before it finishes? :P
