Stein snippy with Sir Wyn there, I thought. His fault though.

I cannot accept that this ability she has to 'cry' and talk cogently at the same time is genuine. It's very accomplished acting though.

I imagine I asked my cat if it liked cheese, and I imagine it said "yes, very much so".

Imagine all you like Paula, you either did or you didn't ask the question, constructing a fantasy is not an answer. .

Interesting that as Sir Wyn has just mentioned "the enquiry has been unable to find/contact Mike Young" (ex head of IT at POL in the late 2000s/early 2010s).

I wonder what foxhole he's hiding in, avoiding the enquiry entirely?

Beer represents the Enquiry whilst Stein represents SPM's so probably why the different approaches.

Oh here we go with the crocodile tears

The look on the guy next to Stein when the lip trembling started said it all! Complete Disdain!

Nobody believes her now, so the only thing she can do is to try tears and break the flow of questions!

edit to make flamin sense on my part!

Just getting to the point where he corners her and here come the tears...she knows everything he said was true, she knew and she did everything she could to cover it up.

She relied on the poor internal procedures to cover it up, she points to them as the reason she didn't know, but we know they enabled her and she was grateful for them.

Remarkable in light of her heavily perforated memory how she remembered the exact date of an email she sent to Young.

Missed the first morning... Is this under oath?

Steins repeated use of caring considerate prefixes to ceo are cutting.

The way the guy sitting next to Mr Stein glaring over his glasses - makes me laugh...

he's almost like the fat guy in Fatal Attraction during THE interrogation

After the convictions are quashed I’d like see some form of penalty for Vennells. Heavy fine and removal of her ill gotten pension would be a good start, preceded by some chokey time…

Because she was referencing an email she sent on remembrance day (11th November, the date in question) to a former colleague who used to be in the armed forces.

The conclusion I am arriving at is that she actually genuinely believes she was doing the best she could and that isn't actually to blame for this, it was just circumstance that what happened happened, nothing to do with her at all.

OK let's charitably accept that, but her apparent ignorance of huge issues in her own company is either shocking or untrue.

That's how I read it, she's either stupid or lying, given her track record and ability to perform here under pressure, she's very clearly not stupid, so er...

Amazing you can be paid so much and know so little. As a CEO it is your duty to know exactly what is going on and why. Yes protect your employer, but look what she has done now.

I served on a jury recently and the lags we dealt with had amazing recall of stuff favourable to themselves, but the memory of a 90 year old Alzheimer's sufferer when it came to anything that didn't suit their need. She is no different. Good to see her take a kicking today.

This is exactly the point right? As CEO she can't be expected to know all the "details" which she seems to be claiming she is being challenged on, but you have to be expected to know all the important and material issues and themes within the business, which is what Stein is actually challenging her on.

She is/was either a) terrible at her job and no-one told her anything because they knew she was incompetent; b) too scary or intimidating for anyone to fess up to her what was actually going on; or c) as CEO knew everything and chose to hide it...

Occam's Razor anyone?
