The Death of Stalin.

I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but once it got going I was hooked. If you like Dr. Strangelove then this might be your cup of tea.

The cast appear to have enjoyed it, at times it felt like they were ad-libbing.

Baywatch - wasn't expecting too much, and thankfully wasn't disappointed. Entertaining enough, lots of nods back to the original series, liked the cameos. However wasn't shocked to see it didn't bother the Oscars last night. 6/10 Overall.
I just watched this as I needed some brain - out entertainment and honestly thought it was one of the worst films I've seen in years. Dreadful 12 year old American Pie quality dick jokes, bad script, messy crap plot and not enough action.

Even the great Rock and utterly stunning Alexandra Daddario had no hope if saving it.

I watched a Danish movie, “A Hijacking” on TV earlier this week, I had recorded it from a movie channel on Sky.
It’s about a Danish cargo ship being hijacked in the Indian Ocean by Somali pirates, and the consequent negotiations between Omar, the English speaking rep for the pirates, and the Danish ship owners in Copenhagen.
It’s in English and Danish, with English subtitles, quite moving, and well acted, 8/10.

Where can I find this?

Funny story, I was actually watching this on iPlayer about 18 moths ago, and, it actually passed it's 'view by date' on iPlayer, and it just cut off in the middle of the film!? What are the chances? Ha.

I was really enjoying it too.

Game Night.

A cracking little black comedy/mini adventure/who done it.

A great storyline, nicely thought out characters and a well acted piece of entertainment.

Yes, you could pick holes in the plot but who cares when a lightweight film is executed as good as this.

One part had me in tears of laughter in the cinema. Both Mrs phazed and I thoroughly enjoyed it, perfect Monday night entertainment!

8/10, (for enjoyment and entertainment)
We've just come back from watching this tonight. Agree with all this. Not the greatest film ever made and I went in trepidation that it looked quite good in the trailer (often the kiss of death!!).

Great script, Jason Bateman has that character nailed down and has done for years, love watching him normally and this film gave him something to get his teeth into. Lots of little throw away lines which were quite witty. Also some laugh out loud proper belly laugh moments. Lots of laughter in the auditorium. Yes the plot doesn't stand up to the collander test but who cares? It's just a fun film. I've seen waaay too many films lately where I've persevered to the end and wondered why tf I'd bothered. You can do a lot worse than watch this.
I enjoyed this, it's a good brain out comic caper with some genuine lol moments.

Finally got to see Black Panther last night. Much of what I was expecting really, good lot of action and a plot that's interesting enough to persevere with. But nothing special. Thought some bits were damn silly, but that's Marvel.

6.5/10

John travolta does revenge flick. Mostly by the numbers with a handful of good bits.

Not as bad as I was expecting. 5.3/10

Game Night

The first comedy I've genuinely laughed out loud at (a lot) for a long long time. The trailer spoilt a few gags but still plenty left. Jesse Plemons was superb.

Packed cinema was laughing all the way through, can't beat a cinema experience like that.

The Big Sick - really enjoyed that, it's funny and a nice (true) story with some great performances.

It's also introduced me to the music of the bird and the bee, who have some nice ditties. biggrinhttps://youtu.be/Hv3ZdOdjXso

"The Mountain Between Us" - on paper sounds promising. Idris Elba and Kate Winslett both good actors with a decent track record starring in a film about surviving a plane crash on an isolated mountain range. What transpired was utter tosh - completely unbelievable, laughably so, with zero chemistry between the two cast leads. Best actor in the film was the labrador...3/10....

Is it me or has Travolta had an Arnie transplant in this.

Rewatched the Winter Soldier. It really is a great film, probably the best of the MCU. Chris Evans is Cap.
Never noticed before thst it has no opening credits, it just goes straight into it, adds to the 70s style tension I feel.
Also never noticed Stark was on the kill list
Had a power nap and for some reason the end credits song was Hookey street and I had a fight with Bucky Barnes as it ran

Yes, it's an enjoyable romp. I particularly like the elevator scene.

Just watched Jumanji. Loads of fun.

Surprisingly good characters and near perfect casting followed by a big jungle romp and a lot of amusing nods to RPG computer games, the 90s and teen culture.

Its not going to win oscars but it's a really good bit of entertainment and Karen Gillan looks utterly lovely.

Hidden Figures

Based on a true story, possibly America’s Bletchley Park story.

Very powerful.

Goodbye Christopher Robin. Thought provoking look at the lives of AA Milne and his son, slightly spoiled by Margot Robbie's attempt at an English accent. Such a shame that the lives of those that gave us one of the best children's book seemed to be so negatively affected by the fame that resulted from the book.

Seen three great films in the last couple of weeks:

Lion
A little kid in India who gets separated from his brother. The first chunk of the film in particular is amazing.

Train to Busan
OK, it's a Korean zombie film but it really is so much more than that. Mrs durbs - who planned to have a nap as she doesn't really like subtitles or zombie films - got right into it from the start and was quite emotional by the end. Not just a really good zombie film; a really good film.

Moonlight
I didn't know anything at all about this before watching but it was highly rated so we gave it a go, and I think that probably helped not knowing much beforehand. Very good.
