Two DVDs this weekend:
John Wick: stylish action flick, Keanu Reeves very likeable as ever; fantastic fight sequences and so many great touches. 9/10
Dark City: Sci Fi thriller with Rufus Sewell, Keifer Sutherland, and Jennifer Connelly. Dark, different, thought provoking, excellent. 9/10

Love Dark City. A gem which is overlooked, thank goodness, because Matrix and other sucked the oxygen, so it means it can remain a nice lil film.Amanda Knox (Netflix movie) - 7/10
- a 90 min summary of the case, from the initial murder to the latest appeal(s). I never really followed the case at the time, but this gives quite a balanced account. To be honest, the british journalist comes out of it looking worst.
Louise Theroux - My Scientology Movie - 5/10
- Well, glad i didnt pay money to see that in the cinema - its basically a standard TV episode padded out with the sub-plot of casting actors to play the parts of various Scientology members in a recreation of an "alleged" incident on their property. It doesnt bring a lot to the party either - in fact, it even uses footage from other documentaries ive seen on TV over the past few years.
Independence Day Resurgence - 6/10
- You dont expect high-brow cinema with an I.D movie, so it was predictably cheesy and generally nice to look at.

Prometheus
Haven't watched it since the cinema but I'm busy buying cheap blu Ray 3D films to test out my new system and though I'd give it another go. I was one of the really disappointed people although I didn't get too involved in the thread on it at the time as it all seemed a little pointless.
The film has its problems, there's no denying that.
However for whatever reason, perhaps because I was watching it more for its effects I did really start to get into it and enjoy it. Ambitious it might be with all its different characters and sub plots but on the whole an enjoyable movie if you don't try and get caught out by actually trying to figure anything out. If you switch your brain off and just watch (as you might with Independence Day etc) it is a decent bit of space sci fi.

Louis Theroux - I kept waiting for something to happen. Anything new. Anything at all. Then it ended. I want that time back pleaseIndependence Day Resurgence
Independence Day - It looked pretty, but I just got bored with the film.
I did, however, watch Evolution yesterday - Brain out nonsense. I loved it

That's a shame, I've got tickets to see it tonight at the South Bank Centre or somewhere with a Q&A session afterward.- Well, glad i didnt pay money to see that in the cinema - its basically a standard TV episode padded out with the sub-plot of casting actors to play the parts of various Scientology members in a recreation of an "alleged" incident on their property. I got dragged to Girl on a Train and found it quite dull. It was like a ste version of Gone Girl but the bloke being the psycho instead. Have to say Emily Blunt is still a great actress.
The best part though? We recently moved, now our local cinema is the Showcase in Reading. Full leather reclining seats throughout and enough leg room to literally run around in I've never seen anything like it, I'm spoilt now.

The Girl with all the Gifts.
British zombie horror flick.
It was OK - 6/10 maybe 6.5
Kinda slow in places.
I thought the same. Was expecting something slightly more grown up/scary. I feel that they aimed it at older children and teenagers and adults wanting a slightly more chilled out zombie flick.British zombie horror flick.

Saw The Magnificent seven last night.Quite enjoyable and a solid 7/10 imo.Saw an advert for The Accountant which looked quite good,as well as a teaser for Trainspotting 2.
Lastly, the (Cineworld) cinema was advertising the upcoming 4DX cinema experience which according to the blurb"stimulates all five senses, which includes high-tech motion seats and special effects including wind, rain and scents..."Might be interesting for Trainspotting 2!
