“I’m already a fan of Steph after seeing her with the SL300 gullwing. Mums business seems to have a very nice collection of classics. http://sjbclassiccars.co.uk/“
Given that Paul is an avid petrolhead, he’s probably got her earmarked as the next Mrs Hollywood.

Tbh this will be first series I'm not going to make a point of watching. When I saw a thing announcing the list of contestants, and there they were, most of them pouting on their InstaFaceTweet accounts, just thought nah, sack it off. Where's the Val, or Howard from Sheffield, or Jane? Nah sorry, though it could be interesting to see how many are truly good bakers for the baking itself and not just using it to further social media whoring. Harsh? Yes, sorry.

Dons fireproof racesuit, hunkers down in bomb shelter, waits incoming aimed at a grumpy old fart. Not denying it. Sorry.

Story I've heard is that they've got more young contestants in an attempt to attract a younger audience.

I did look at the lineup and thought it was a bit "millennial".

A quick search reveals of the 13 contestants, 7 are in their 20's, 4 in their 30's, 1 in their 40's (just) and the oldest is just 56.

I'll still watch it and enjoy it, but think they could have had a better range.

The lack of a "granny" type was clear and obvious. Pity. I'm surprised so many young people have an interest in baking, unless of course they taught themselves over the last 12 months just to get on the show. As if......

In which case, why don't they bake everything in Hollywood's book rather than looking surprised when asked to make an Angel cake slice...

I agree. There have always been four or five old folk. I'm not sure who they are trying to attract.

Although I agree with FiF I can see where they’re going with the younger/social media types. Very C4. As for target audience my youngest and his Chic nerdy friends love it. Age 15-19.

That'd be a great idea if a younger audience watched TV and were happy to wait a week for the next episode rather than binge watching series on Netflix/Prime etc.

I thought the young lad would be going home this week, especially after his disastrous biscuits, but the Spanish girl is in deep doo-doo. I don't think she'd ever seen a fig roll before. Her Witches Fingers looked unappetisjng to say the least.

PS Her spider saved the day. Glad he's gone - he was out of his depth.

I gave up, half way through. I shall continue to watch the excellent "Extra Bake" on Friday nights, though.

I don't know what it is but I haven't yet been that fussed by this year's - it's more background noise than compelling viewing, maybe because there are still so many folk in it and it needs to find its stride?

Some of the bakers seem a bit handy this year - really highlights the "home" baking that a few of them produce against what could pass as professional - I can't see witch lady making it past next week - her stuff all looked like someone making something for a kids party rather than something you would buy in a shop.

I just hope that they don't go a bit daft like last year and try to make it stupidly difficult on purpose (limiting time, the stupid BBQ pita challenge...)

So far I quite like the Organ Guy, Squeaky Voice Vet, Weegie Indian and Massive Eyes.

Not a fan of the Welsh woman - she has a proper "Can I speak to the manager?" look about her.
