The car was made in 1973. Perhaps people should check out standard spec of other cars in 1973. Not a lot and hardly comparable with a modern car.
I'll have you know my 1968 Alfa has three ashtrays! The video is about a lightweight 2.7RS! How far have we fallen to be criticising it for lack of ‘amenities’…

Agreed, I get that 911s generally are marmite cars, and always considered myself a TVR guy until I actually wanted a vaguely practical sports car and drove a 911. I knew of the 2.7 RS and their values but very little else, and found the video interesting and love seeing cars like this being driven properly.
Interesting history, engaging to drive, plenty quick enough to enjoy - what’s not to like.

I hugely enjoy every single one of Harry's videos (cars & the farm), but I'm not into motorbikes and have utterly zero interest in the Fulvia Zagato (apart from the skill in the restoration of course) for example, but I still watch - not everyone can be please all of the time. Unfortunately there are those who seem to enjoy being displeased and commenting as such
I find it odd that people are focusing on the bad comments, I had a look and its endless scrolling of people loving it.
Nice to see the review of a lightweight 2.7RS as this is a very nerdy Porsche theme. How they got there is just as interesting, others have taken hindsight to do it again and have missed the boat.
It is a wonderful time capsule of a car.

Going from bust to manipulating the derivatives market to take control of one of the largest car companies on the planet with no one going to prison is surely Porsche's finest moment? moment.
I do like these old 911s. Maybe they didn't fit armrests and ashtrays because you couldn't risk ever taking a hand off the wheel?

I enjoyed the Porsche video primarily because i'm a Harry fan, the RS left me a bit cold for some reason. A standard Carrera from that era would be a more complete package IMO.
Same.I enjoyed some of the nerdiness, I'd never have known that the earlier cars were quite different from the later ones for example.
I also have no desire to own one, a sorted 993 for a fraction of the price would be a better car for me in every single way, but nice to see an in depth video on one.

The 993 is a great car and for use all year round makes a lot of sense. However for Road driving enjoyment (not ultimate speed) nothing so far has bested a 2.7 RS. Just my experience.
I suspect a lot of negative or indifferent comments are from people who have never driven such cars in anger.

I appreciate the 2.7RS and this example really illustrated the process they went thru. But I also understand it is a compromised car and that is ok too.
Since I was at the airshow at RAF Fairford yesterday, I decided to try the road Harry uses for his test drives, since it’s not to far away. I found it to be a good road and one where progress can be made. In Sussex where I live it’s not possible due to the amount of traffic. I also went past Diddly Farm Shop inadvertently, as my sat nav kept trying to send me down single track roads to get back home.

What basic amenities was it missing? As a mode of transport it has everything you need and nothing more.
Well, so would a Victorian dog-cart hitched to a horse, but... Let's see: No glovebox, no ashtray (not that it matters much now but it might have in '73), no armrests, no rear seat, no interior door handles, no clock, no sound deadening, no bumpers, and probably not much in the way of corrosion resistance. It did appear to have a Porsche heater, for what that is worth. The racket it made drowned out most of Harry's driving commentary.
It is academic at this point since the value of these to those with the Porsche bug means few of us will have the ability to purchase one or even care. But that also limits my interest level to a great degree in videos like this.
Like many modern equivalents that have a more driver focused ethos, these sort of things get binned in development.
Personally I learnt some new stuff and I’m interested in seeing what these cars are like to drive. Just because I can’t have one isn’t a turn off.
