Harry does seem to (occasionally) be living everyone's dream lifestyle - getting in your sportscar and cruising down to your yacht in the South of France via scenic routes and a few good dinners on the way.

It does seem idyllic. I'm sure the late nights and early mornings on the farm do mitigate it a bit though.Purso said:

Was surprised to see it's over 5 years since I took a trip down there myself.
Well worth it if you're a bit of a geek.
We travel over it most summers. From below it is very impressive and also on it when the clouds are below.Well worth it if you're a bit of a geek.
Doing the old road below makes you realise why they built the bridge!

Each time there is a road trip, leads me to how do I get this life for me It is interesting that the Americans buy into the fantasy of anyone can make it when in reality your chance of making it there is pretty small and many statistics for the US are more in line with lowly or under developed countries.

See this is where I hate the religious aspect of early 911s. It is like Tesla owners. Any apathy is met with suspicion of you not having the purest version of it. I have driven 3 different 911 STs and a 906, I have a pretty good palete of what they are trying to paint. But this won't cut it because any questioning of it is seen as you not knowing enough or that you haven't pushed the limits of the car as I have bro.
I appreciate the 2.7RS and this example really illustrated the process they went thru. But I also understand it is a compromised car and that is ok too.
I think the issue (if there is one) with the 911 is there are so many variants available, you end up with a weird 'mine is better than yours' senario whenever you discuss which is best, which isn't healthy. It's so much easier when a car exists in a single form only, like the F40 or Alfa 8C do as random examples as then it's much easier to place it in context. I appreciate the 2.7RS and this example really illustrated the process they went thru. But I also understand it is a compromised car and that is ok too.
The 2.7RS Lightweight I sampled is stupidly rare and hugely prized amongst 911 affionardos (it's a £1M+ car), yet it wouldn't be my pick as the ultimate 911. It would be of my sons', though, which I didn't expect. I loved the back story to its development and the fact they were concerned it might prove to be impossible to sell. How wrong they were..
Find it odd it hasn't done bigger numbers but maybe it doesn't appeal to a wide audience, so views were always going to be lower than usual for my channel.
Maser, your RS 2.7 Lwt video was great for 911 enthusiasts, views may not have been quite up to your high expectations, consider the benefits of educating your subscribers.
I was going to offer you a spin in another yellow 911 Lwt, apparently Mr Tuthills new favourite 911?.... It may not get the views you require to make it viable?

Then you buy the version which was designed for day to day comforts. This was made for very specific reasons. In general, those that bought it would not have cared about these ‘omissions’.
You missed the context that preceded my reply: "What basic amenities was it missing? As a mode of transport it has everything you need and nothing more."That person was suggesting that it was perfectly fine as a mode of transport. Perhaps it is to them, but to many it would be a very compromised mode of transport. That was my point. Really no different than a number of other vehicles Harry has driven for his videos where he notes those compromises if placed in regular use. Let's pull the covers over this one for now.
Harry's road trip videos are always the highlight of his channel for me as I get to see places and roads in other parts of the world that I will likely never see otherwise with the bonus of seeing him driving an awesome car. At the risk of being somewhat snowed under with criticism by the faithful, I have to say I found this latest one to be slightly off somehow. Not totally sure why, but the sections regarding the head unit installation into the P7 and then the subsequent experience with using it seemed to be worthwhile mostly as a warning to others, as it did not seem all that successful given that it disables a number of the existing features in the Jag. I found myself thinking he would have been better off using a smartphone at the larger end of the size scale clipped to the center stack for his nav functions. A useful lesson though. There seemed to be fewer segments than usual showing the scenic driving routes through the center of France as well, though the views of the Millau Viaduct from below were rather awe-inspiring. But the editing or flow of the piece seemed off somehow with some rather abrupt jumps and cuts. I love Harry's channels and his road trip videos but this one was a bit of a letdown.
