Films I watched this week

American Honey.
2.5 hours of no plot, though nominally about millennial slackers on a road trip, Fantastic soundtrack and photography in shakey-cam and 4:3 aspect. Astonishing piece of film making. I loved it. Mrs Newc thought it was the worst thing she'd seen all year.
8.5 from me, 3.5 from Mrs N.
Go and see for yourself and win a free bucket of domestic tension.

ETA it contains some distressing footage from the outset
I watched the first hour then, at midnight, looked to see how much longer it was, couldn't stay up another two hours so went to bed. Although the first hour was interesting I probably won't watch the rest as I only like 'Hollywood' endings! Here's a trailer

Bridget Jones's Baby; hilarious. Emma Thompson had some fantastic lines, but she did co-write it.
Best line from Emma is along the lines of (during the birth scene) "I'd stay away from the business end chaps, my ex said it was like watching his favourite pub being demolished
Man card handed in

Robbie Williams rings a bell.
Found myself watching The Intern last night with 'er indoors. The brief (hers) was a film where there was no shooting, swearing for the sake of it, explosions or chases.
I expected to sit pretending to watch while surfing on the ipad but found myself watching and really quite enjoying it. Lightweight but some nice moments and some good dialogue in places.
My work having been done I can see bombs and bullets in her future next week though.

The Hoax, starring Richard Gere as Clifford Irving, who sold a fake biography on Howard Hughes to a major publishing house, contains political intrigue, a bit of nooky and an excellent plot, best of all it's based on a true story. Well worth a watch. 8/10, despite Netflicks rating of 2 stars.

I've seen that too, having watched it on a flight within the last year. It was pleasant enough.I expected to sit pretending to watch while surfing on the ipad but found myself watching and really quite enjoying it. Lightweight but some nice moments and some good dialogue in places.

Just returned from a business trip to Canada and U.S and was surprised at how poor the long-haul carriers' selections were, Air Canada out, Lufthansa back. I watched a TV series on my way out!
Central Intelligence I watched on the return. It was quite funny, but not as funny as the few bloopers in the end credits!
