Actually late last week but I checked to see whether I have a recording of 'Rush' (Hunt vs. Lauda) and found myself drawn in to watching it when I really had better things to do. For those who haven't seen it I'm afraid you missed it last night on C4

Ted 2

Much like Ted but with more swearing, in-jokes, homages/parodies and no Mila Kunis.

Amusing in places but like most lightweight films at the moment far to long.

Train To Busan - a Korean zombie movie set aboard a bullet train (guess where it's going to). Excellent movie, just the right balance of action, comedy and melodrama (main character = selfish, neglectful single dad who learns the errors of his ways) and frantic but enjoyable pacing. I actually thought it was about to finish at one or two points but carried on (I think it's a 2 hour movie) which I'm usually annoyed at however I was so impressed with the movie that I was actually glad there was more story to tell.

Took my daughter to see Trolls at the weekend. Was expecting not to like it but have to say I quite enjoyed it. Completely formulaic but despite that an easy watch with some good songs (even the modern ones!)

Anyone seen Arrival yet? Oddly all the reviews are from 2+ months ago, and I've had lots of people on my social network feeds who watched it last week, yet it's not out until next Thursday as far as I can tell.

Yes I've seen it, it was the Odeon Screen Unseen film on Monday. It's a good one smile .

Just got back from watching The Girl With All The Gifts, a kind of zombie film, but not. I really enjoyed it, a lot more cerebral than most. For example, the army aren't all a bunch of deranged self-defeating right wing lunatics like we normally see in this type of film. Because it's British made, we once again see London with nature taking over, it was very well done.
Not as visceral as 28Days/Weeks Later, but I enjoyed it as much.

The Accountant

Decent way to pass a couple of hours. Plus I'll always be a fan of anything with Anna Kendrick in cloud9

7/10

Jurassic Park in Concert - 100/10

Headed to London and my first visit to the Royal Albert Hall today. My favourite film + Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was all kinds of good. Best 'cinema' experience I'm ever likely to have (we had movie themes, including Jurassic Park, at our wedding!)

The orchestra were so good that there were long periods that I completely forgot they were there, it just sounded awesome. Then suddenly the score would really kick in and it was proper goosebumps stuff.

Marvel's Dr Strange. An intelligent plot with rational characters, well acted, great action amid superb CGI. Far better than most comic book adaptations - a 9 or a 10/10 for it's genre and an 8/10 overall.

It's stood the test of time pretty well, I reckon. I think the framing of it being in the backwater arse end of nowhere with no mobile signal is what keeps it timeless, otherwise it would be a very short film today. biggrin

The Rocky Horror Picture Show remake.

As a huge fan of the original, I was expecting utter tripe.

It was EXCELLENT. Really well done. The new Frank is brilliant.

Krampus - 7.5/10

Enjoyed this far more than I was expecting. Very Gremlins like in that it's a 'family' (and I use that term very loosely, and only because there is no sex/gore) horror. Really nicely shot and the nasty things are not at all what I was expecting, but brilliantly created.

It's left me wanting more accessible horror movies, particularly ones that don't take themselves too seriously.
