Can't believe I haven't seen it before now. The Departed
South Boston cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) goes under cover to infiltrate the organization of gangland chief Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson). As Billy gains the mobster's trust, a career criminal named Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) infiltrates the police department and reports on its activities to his syndicate bosses. When both organizations learn they have a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin must figure out each other's identities to save their own lives.
Absolutely stellar cast, very sweary, very violent. 9 out of 10 R's replaced with AH's
I bought it on DVD years ago and it's still on my "to watch" pile. I really should get round to watching it because, as you say, it's a stellar cast.
The Highwayman
Last night's movie was Kevin Costner being the retired Texas Ranger recruited to stop Bonnie and Clyde's sweeping robberies across the mid West. Based largely on fact, the film starts slowly but the pace quickens as they get on the bandit's trail.
It shows the robbers were seen as popular heroes in the Depression but they were eventually ambushed when they stopped to help a relation mend a puncture at the side of the road.
Hardly a spoiler because the story is well known but the shoot out at the end was pretty brutal.
The car wreck is shown being towed back to town and the public snatching mementoes through the broken glass from the dead bodies.
I also enjoyed the end credits which listed various facts and figures, as well as photos of the original characters from back then.
Not a bad movie.
8 /10 Thompson sub machine guns - rat a tat tat!

Cool soundtrack, too.
Couple of Netflix films in the last week:
Operation Odessa A documentary about drug running. Yeah, yeah I know - repeat of the same old format. Only in this they interview the actual people involved back in to 80's and 90's. I really enjoyed it - 8.5/10
The Festival Comedy about going to a music festival surprisingly - funnier than I thought it would be, had some of the people from Inbetweeners in it too - 7.5/10

The recent restoration of '2001' is excellent. Marvellous attention to detail and effects for the time..
Coupled with great story and of course 'HAL' (Coming to your Alexa,Google,Siri smart assistant shortly!)
'Hey Google open the pod bay doors.' 'I'm sorry I can't do that right now.......'

Enjoyable low-budget mind-bender that's worth a watch.

Lake Placid is ace, probably the best creature feature since Tremors.
Yes it's very good, with some excellent one-liners and characterisation. Especially Oliver what's-'is-name playing the randy reptile expert.Edited by popeyewhite on Saturday 11th May 11:17
He makes every film better.
Those two sparing elevated the film.
Hector: Is this the man that was killed?
Sheriff Hank Keough: He seemed... taller.
Sheriff Hank Keough: I brought a pork chop for luck. Maybe you could hang it around your neck.
Hector Cyr: That's sweet. Maybe later you can chew the bark off my big fat log.
Sheriff Hank Keough: I... I... I never heard of a crocodile crossing an ocean.
Hector Cyr: Well, they conceal information like that in books.
