Can't believe I haven't seen it before now. The Departed

South Boston cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) goes under cover to infiltrate the organization of gangland chief Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson). As Billy gains the mobster's trust, a career criminal named Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) infiltrates the police department and reports on its activities to his syndicate bosses. When both organizations learn they have a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin must figure out each other's identities to save their own lives.

Absolutely stellar cast, very sweary, very violent. 9 out of 10 R's replaced with AH's
I bought it on DVD years ago and it's still on my "to watch" pile.

I really should get round to watching it because, as you say, it's a stellar cast.
It's a superb film.
+1. It absolutely is

I watched "Mandy" with Nicholas Cage on Sky this week
Erm..............WTF?!!!eekeekeeknutsnutsnutssillysillysilly

Probably the most surreal, bizzare, trippy and batst mental film I've seen for years. Nicholas Cage goes full on crazy once the st really hits the fan and completely dominates every scene like some deranged parody of himself.

I still don't know what to make of it, but it definitely stayed with me and visually it's stunning.

The Foreigner - Jackie Chan gets a bit upset with people, but not in his usual style.

I was quite surprised by how low-key this felt, quite a tense film and a bit old school which I liked. The stunts and fights seemed a lot more real and as if they could actually happen and folk got hurt. A solid 7 broken ankles out of 10 fractured shoulders.

Following the recent Marvel theme we watched Captain America: Civil War today.

Great film, some genuinely funny bits, great/more down to earth action and also quite serious (for MCU) in places.

8/10

It's as if Stanley Kubrick, Clive Barker and David Lynch met, took a lorry load of acid and thought "Let's make a film" nutssilly

I'll definitely have to revisit it, just to experience the completely unhinged lunacy of it all. biggrin

The Festival Comedy about going to a music festival surprisingly - funnier than I thought it would be, had some of the people from Inbetweeners in it too - 7.5/10
Can't agree with that one, it went straight to the Charity Shop after watching. A 4/10 if I'm being generous, watchable, just, but few laughs.

I was just watching "Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii and I'd say that if "Mandy" could be summed up in a record, it'd be this one. Quiet, trippy an d atmospheric first half. Then BOOM! Nicholas Cage turns the dial up to 11 and breaks out whatever the hell that thing he makes is biggrin

12 in a box.

If I could give it less than 0/10 I would, it's appalling whatever way you look at it.

Except for the last 2 seconds.
Which almost (but not quite) made it worth watching.

If it had any decent actors in it, or a decent script writer, it could have been good, but it's like a good idea that was filmed by your local am-dram group.

Agreed! They're on another level with that performance.

Picked up the Mortal Engines Blu Ray - extremely far fetched and a bit formulaic but still a great spectacle and very entertaining IMO. I think that the box office was pretty unfair to it.

Sorry I didn't go see it when it was on the big screen, would have been a great one to see in a cinema.

Aquaman

It's been a long while since we've agreed to just stop the movie about half way through and stick the blueray back in a box but that's what happened this evening with Aquaman.

I love all the Marvel stuff and although I've enjoyed the DC stuff a bit less because it all seemed a bit darker ... this was just dross.

Dune

Every bit as bonkers as I remember it.

Special effects haven't aged very well, and the acting is poorer than I remember, but still entertaining.
(edit: although not as much as I remember)

3 little makers / 1 Shai-hulud.
