Black lightning season 4. As usual with black lightning the first 3 or 4 episodes you think meh. Then it comes together and finishes superbly.

Will miss the old Jen tho, apparently the actress wanted to peruse other projects.

Watched Fear Street: 1994 last night.

Released by Netflix on 2nd July, It's the first in a trilogy, the second and third being released in successive weeks. Based on books by teen/young adult author R.L.Stine.

It's a combination of resurrection of very old witch and teen slasher, so nothing particularly new, and bang on trend with its LGBTetc theme, but, even though I'm almost certainly way outside its target market, it was a good bit of slasher fun. Certainly good enough for me to tune into the 1978 and 1666 parts 2 and 3 in due course.

IMDB gives it 6.2 - it doesn't happen often but I think I'd give it 6.5... maybe even 6.7.

Godzilla Singular Point

I think I liked this? Watched with my daughter who liked it. It's all over the place and the pacing switches from the usual anime mania to ssslllooowwweeerrr mystery solving. But the appearances of the Big Fella (late on in the series) cut through everything and stood alone.

In fact you can save yourself 13 episodes and watch the Gojira highlights here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ9Xh8HkVKI

5.5 Badman out of 10 Riddims or 5.5 diagonal out of 10 orthogonalisers, I haven't made up my mind.

Thought this was ok, but the second part set 1978 is a lot better in my opinion.
Although it's more for teens it's quite a good slasher film with shades of Friday the 13th.

Molly's Game.

Missed it when it first came out, so sat down with it last night. Was apprehensive that it would be a dull courtroom drama that the Americans love so much.

Absolutely not! It was brilliant. Sorkin script, Chastain, Elba, there's even a barely-recognisable Chris O'Down in there. Oh, and Costner.

A fantastic, true story.

I was a bit disappointed TBH. I grew up with the books and one of the friends were almost always the killer. Much like Scream. It was very gory and played out well but I just thought, meh, when it came to the witch reveal.

Weird confusing plot, not particularly Godzillary, but better to watch than the nihilist rubbish that the three Polygon animated films turned out to be.

I love tarantino, and have seen all his films multiple times, but couldn't make it through a single viewing. I'll give benefit of doubt, and presume something is lost in translation with the cultural setting, but didn't work for me at all.

Just watched 1978 this evening. Definitely a good build on 1994.

Fauda - half way through season 2

Really good so far, maybe one or two moments where it was slightly weak in the plot, but so far 8/10
Keep at it, season 3 is a belter
Fauda is superb. Watch it with the subtitles rather than the dodgy dubbing into English though for the best experience
Another vote for Fauda - tense, gripping with plots that crack along at a decent pace. Agree it's definitely one to be watched in the original language with subtitles.

Also it does make an effort to show both sides of the conflict and the plight of the Palestinians.

In a way it reminds me in many ways of The Shield - rogue cops/soldiers (Doren is pretty much an Israeli Mackey), brutal tactics, fast pacing of episodes, and very gritty...

I had this in My List for a while and watched the first four or five episodes on Saturday night. Yeah, fast paced. The episodes seemed to go by very quickly, which is no wonder as they're just over half an hour long!

Its quite slow, not one of his best films.

I started watching 'This could go anywhere' with Phil Tuffnel and Brenden McCollum. If you like cricket, and golf its a good watch.

I thought it was absolutely brilliant. A story of friendship, the shallowness of Hollywood and the freaks that live on the fringes. One of QT's best.

I watched it Saturday. Almost gave up on it, but stuck with it and I'm glad I did. Thoroughly enjoyed the comic-book violence in the ending.
