d Edinburgh CID Det Sgt going completely off the rails and then some. Hilarious in places, yet almost unwatchably bleak and dark at times. Excellent film adaptation of the Irvine Welsh book.
The Accountant - didn't go in expecting anything, I'd never seen a trailer or read a synopsis, all I knew was that Ben Affleck was in it.
Actually not a bad watch and kept me entertained for a couple of hours.
I suspect if I watched it again I might notice the plot was utter bks, but they did manage to latch onto a concept that perfectly fits the Affleck style of 'acting'.

The story wasn't the a strongest, but the visuals are so utterly gorgeous, I just had to keep watching...6.5/10...and whilst you're watching you think you know it's all done and it's seems pretty cool.

Saw Sully this w/e - really enjoyed it - except:
Im guessing the real hearing was quite a formal dispassionate affair that wouldnt have made good cinema?
Otherwise, great film and would recommend.

Only concern from me was how they played the NTSB as the villians - although they make it clear they are just doing their jobs - the characters used to portray NTSB come across as if they are out to get Sully and his crew which just isn't true.
Spot on - first half of the film its all scowly looks across the table at Sully, and then in the final hearing when Sully makes them re-run the human simulation with the 35 sec delay time and the plane predictably crashes, all their lips are so pursed that its like a row of cats arses on the bench. I was half expecting them to shake their fists and say "you pesky kids, we nearly got away with this!". I mean, seriously, wouldnt the NTSB have factored in the communication/decision time into their simulations from the off? That was the first thing i thought of and i have no knowledge/interest in aviation (and am pretty dense generally). Then as soon as they hear the cockpit recording they all instantly change their tune and start weeping and wanting to high-five Sully? I thought the ending was quite funny! Without spoiling too much the mystery phone girl. Actually not a bad watch and kept me entertained for a couple of hours.

Pretty much the same from me. Not a big Affleck fan and it just looked like a random action flick from the trailer. I really enjoyed it. A few twists and turns, some I figured out and some I didn't, great action and pretty gripping throughout. We watched this last night. A quite decent movie with good production values and reasonably turns from b grade film stars. (If you watch it with the mrs be prepared for a lot of "what was he in?" questioning)Enjoyable Sci-Fi tosh. 7/10. Worth a watch. More than a nod towards great action flicks like aliens, black hawk down etc..
crucially slick editing means the whole thing is 110 minutes or so, bucking the current trend for everything to be a bloated 3 hours.
I do lament the death of decent editing.....
