If he was clued up why has got a new M3, he had a M8 comp last year that added nothing to the channel and was never really seen on screen, cannot see the M3 adding much, worlds ugliest car in an awful colour.
Quick YT search shows that his videos on it so far have about 2 million views. Its obviously a car of interest to the YT community. Lots of people think it looks good (I think the colour is superb) and it's probably a superb car for running around. Of far more interest to me than £300k plus track specials. What cars would you buy if you were in his position?

Sorry but I have not heard anybody say it is a good looking car yet.
And how many daily cars does he need.

With regards to Tim/Shmee or others car choices I think a lot of it is to do with creating a passive income stream from their back catalogues being viewed in the future too rather than just when the car in question is new. He doesn't 'need' an M8 or M3 daily but these are cars which no doubt get regularly searched for and with a high view count channel then he is likely to come high up in any searches. Whilst videos on a Senna may be more about 'the moment' until the next fastest thing comes along, something like an M8 is likely to be searched for when they are 3 years old and used buyers are looking up about them.
He's not my cup of tea but he does seem to have a decent business acumen which surely is what is needed to create his income level.

It must have been already been said, but I'll say it again.
Shmee150 was on behind the glass this week, and it's an excellent listen. It might make you realise there's logic in Tim's car buying, he didn't break any travel rules as everyone here keeps hoping, and that Tim is not the same person as Shmee150, which many forget.

Such a shame the trolls won and he left this thread as his inputs were amongst the few worth reading.

Only people I’ve heard say they like it appear to be sucking up to BMW, deliberately trying to be all “well I can actually see what BMW are trying to achieve here” or both. It might be great to drive but it just looks awful.
I read the comments under his announcement video and many of them were liking the looks including the grill. Personally I thought it looked awful when I first saw pictures but I have already got used to it and when I saw a car in person in that colour I thought the car looked good.waremark said:

It’s surprising how quickly something becomes ‘normal’.I can’t imagine liking the big nostril BMWs but I quite like the Chris Bangle cars and I remember what a shock they were at launch.

People knock Tim but he's probably one of the most clued up automotive youtubers if not the most clued up there is.
No-one cares.I mean, he's not a reviewer. He's good at mentioning specs and colours.
He doesn't pretend to be also.
My impression is that he is very clued up about how to work the YouTube algorithm. He is clearly very clued up about his viewership and how to ‘use’ them to make his channels successful. He comes across as a very good analyst of figures - he would make a good accountant or analyst.
It all just sounds very clinical though, when I listen to him he doesn’t exude that vibe of deep-seeded car nerdery that obsessively hoovered up car magazines or content since he was a young boy. My reading of him seems to be of a businessman who likes fast cars rather than an enthusiast who has made a business out of fast cars.
I also thought he sounded exhausted. Without the constant buying/selling and travelling his channel (as with any similar channel) will stall. You wonder how soon it turns to just being ‘a job’ treadmill like most other work. I wonder if he has an exit strategy.

It’s like tax evasion and tax avoidance. One is illegal, the other is technically legal but morally questionable. He clearly said in the interview that he had spent a lot of resources to get his US work visa and used the Dubai corridor loophole to make use of that visa.
It’s pretty telling how that topic was broached, unprompted, at the beginning of the interview - defensive out the gate.
Given how Sam has highlighted his working within the guidelines and creating compromised (his words!) content closer to home during lockdown 3, I was disappointed he not only didn’t challenge Tim more on this point but fully endorsed it.

This thread was referenced on the Smith & Sniff podcast this week and specifically Tim’s contributions which were always balanced and gave a great insight into the world of YouTube.
They were generally positive about Tim and Mr. JWW but said there was one specific car YouTuber they had both had experiences with who came across like an absolute flute of the highest order (or something along those Smith&Sniffism lines). My immediate guess was TGE

It's not a loophole, it's the rules. Dubai had no issues with UK citizens entering and working, and the US had no issues with the UK citizens entering and working as long as they'd not been in the Shenzhen zone the previous 14 days.He clearly said in the interview that he had spent a lot of resources to get his US work visa and used the Dubai corridor loophole to make use of that visa.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I've seen other one man band channels have 'guest presenter month' where they put up videos from smaller channel hosts and split the revenue - allowing the channel owner to have a month off each year, but maybe Tim is too much a slave to the algorithm for that to happen.jon- said:

Like I said, there is tax evasion and tax avoidance.TDowney2394 said:
Danny’s channel got quite a bit shoutout on the Car Throttle podcast. They said how down to earth it is and how they like him. I’ve recently started watching his channel and I agree
Been following Dan for a few years now, seems like a genuine lad although I've never met him.Quality of his videos have gone up recently too with new cameras and mics etc. Not many people that gives off the same vibes on youtube.
