The Girl with all the Gifts.
28 days later/zombie mashup with a twist.
Set in the UK with Paddy Considine and a rather good turn from a young girl actor.

I enjoyed it 7.5/10
Just watched this and really enjoyed it - thanks for posting, I hadn't heard of it before thumbup

Midnight Special
Recommended from here after I said how much I loved "Take Shelter"
Thanks for the recommendation; I just watched it on Amazon Video. thumbup
A simple story, well acted and well told, and all beautifully understated despite aspects of the plot that could easily have been ruined by the Hollywood treatment. 8/10.

Passengers; enjoyable but instantly forgettable. Borrows every know cliché from countless other sci-fi films and shoe horns them in; and safe to say that if the leads were anyone else other than Chris and Jennifer then it would have sunk without a trace. So many premises hinted at and promised but hardly any fulfilled. That said it was a good date movie and now know my date has a huge JL girl-crush scratchchin
Loved how the ship - Avalon - was basically the Axiom from Wall-E.

Quite funny in places, colossally stupid, and thoroughly creepy and immoral - which is sooo easily glossed over. Odd.
Oh most certainly immoral - but understandable. It's quite an interesting look at the nature of solitude and a (possible) descent into madness.....
I thought it dealt with that issue pretty well IMO; showing Aurora's reaction to the revelation was one of the best scenes of the film.

Oh and as I didn't mention it before, Michael Sheen is THE BEST thing in the whole film; scene stealing little Android.

Got around to watching Bridge of Spies last night. Cracking movie with some good understated performances and filled with atmosphere. A solid 9 / 10 from me.

Watched In Bruges again last night. Really enjoyed it the first time around but it still made me laugh a lot. Ralph Fiennes is superb.

The Girl on the Train - It was ok, a little obvious in places, but a decent watch. It did seem to jump a little between dates and I was confused at times, but I got caught up...

Finally watched the first Hunger Games - It was ok. Just ok. I'm assured that the others are better, but as I wanted to watch the latest Mockingjay films, I was advised to watch the first one otherwise Mockingjay wouldn't make sense...

Ratchet and Clank - Bit of a fail this one. I was surprised as the cinematic bits in the games were normally pretty good/funny. Kept the kids amused though. 5/10

Re the hunger games, the first one was the best by a long way, they just got more and more idiotic and convoluted after that think I fell asleep in the 3rd one and haven't bothered with the final episode.

Yes good movie. Always makes me feel cold though (due to the winter period, not emotionally!).

Loved that film, especially the line "is he doing a wee or a pooh?", cracked me up

My other half and I booked up a trip in February of 2012. We watched In Bruges again the night before we travelled and spent the whole time quoting the movie. Cracking film.

Green Zone - Matt Damon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3KJ21TLKVE

Trailer mis sells it tbh.

the SF guy who says "this is a kill no capture mission" isn't talking about Damons character/

But it's based around the hunt for WMDs in Post Saddam Iraq and how this intel was "sexed up" Albeit not quite as politically motivated as that makes it sound. Of course with hindsight...

I'm a fan of modern war films. This is not quite as good as say ZeroDarkThirty or Black Hawk. But it's worth watching if you like this genre. 7.5/10

Is this out now? It jumped in and out of the cinema quickly last year so missed out, the review on the Mayo/Kermode podcast had me interested.
