Now a co-production with Disney Plus...
Hmmm...Americanisation of the programme?
The BBC and Bad Wolf Studios will keep creative control as part of the deal, so it won’t be Americanised. Disney have also said that a lot of the shows appeal lies in its “Britishness” and they don’t want to tamper with that. While there will be an injection of money, it won’t nearly be anything like £10M per episode. Disneys deal is mainly as the streaming platform outside the UK.Now a co-production with Disney Plus...

Yes, he's the villain of the piece, some sort of demon toymaker/ringmaster IIRC. He should be good
I’m hoping that the rumours are true and that he’s playing the Celestial Toymaker, last seen in the William Hartnell era and played by Michael Gough.Interesting to see Beep the Meep (the cute creature that says “Monsters”) in the trailer too. That’s a rumour that looks to be true.
For those that don’t know, Beep the Meep is a character from the 4th Doctor comic strip “Star Beast” in what was then Doctor Who Weekly. Cute and cuddly, and likes to play the innocent victim, but is really a raving psychopath.

90% of the time though he wants nothing to do with any love or attention. He wants to be outside absolutely terrorising anything little n furry n scurrying. Fresh kills are brought in on a daily basis. He is the absolutely definition of psychotic killing machine.

It's hard not to conclude that the BBC is using Dr Who as it's main vehicle to clumsily ram diversity down everyone's throats. I freely accept that fictional characters in a fictional universe can be portrayed however the writers wish and have no problem with that in principle, but I feel that in recent years Dr Who has taken a very clumsy approach to diversity, which just turns many viewers off.

This is the problem when trying to 'send a message / promote an agenda', (or peoples perception of that happening), if the story isn't written / acted / produced well, the focus becomes the 'message', if it's a great story that is written / acted / produced well the focus becomes the show, and many more people will potentially become more aware of the inclusion / diversity 'message', if there is one.
Not many people can watch films like Alien and think to themselves, 'I wish Ripley was a XXXXX (insert alternative here ) ' as that would make this much better, can they ?

Is Tennant back just to boost viewing figures until Gatwa takes over?
Whatever happens please, please don't default back to the bloody Daleks or yet another Master.

Yes I think that's the reason. It was a genuine surprise (despite what some claimed ) when she regenerated into Tennant. It's also a bit clever to make the regeneration into Tennant a "new" doctor rather than just a reversion to the 10th
I hope it goes well
I’m 58 so I’ve seen pretty much all the doctors from Pertwee onwards but Baker was my Doctor.
Obviously as a child there where genuinely terrifying, behind the sofa moments but looking back now it was very of it’s time and done on a shoestring..
As a parent my kids got fully onboard with the Christopher Eccleston reboot but I could still watch and enjoy it with them as an adult. It went up a level with Tennant and for my kids he was their Doctor.
I really felt for last Doctor ( as she was always going to struggle with the terrible scriptwriting) I dipped in a few times in the vain hope it was going to improve but it was absolutely DIRE, with the Doctor being forced to give the audience an infantile narration of every scene as it was unfolding before our very eyes.
Even my now grown up kids gave up on the last Doctor, but the second coming has again peaked our interest so let’s hope the writers can appeal to adults and children alike again without dumbing it deeper than down.

Crikey, you'll actually grow old trying to binge watch that lot!Does anyone remember an episode from the 60s in B&W, where the Doctor is trapped in a full sized dolls' house and is pursued by Clockwork toy soldiers?
That one scared the bejeesus out of me back then, I'd like to watch it once more.
Probably from behind the soda, like the good old days.

The very first story (An Unearthly Child) will not be on iPlayer as the son of the guy that wrote it has withdrawn the rights for the BBC to use it.Teppic said:
