From November 1st, the classic series from Hartnell to McGann, spin off series Torchwood, Sarah Jane Chronicles and Class, and the Doctor Who Confidential extras from the newer series are being added to iPlayer. https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-who-announces-...
The very first story (An Unearthly Child) will not be on iPlayer as the son of the guy that wrote it has withdrawn the rights for the BBC to use it.Also, the person not allowing the broadcast of these episodes seems to be a proper full on CT nutter, complete with RANDOM uppercase words for IMPACT. His twitter is here for those interested : HERE
Warning : may contain NUTS.

You're obviously not a Doctor Who fan then?
The very first episode is amazing.
By amazing, you mean slow, boring and not very well made? The very first episode is amazing.
I'm a huge fan, and find much of the William Hartnell period just not very good. There are of course stand out moments within the 4 episodes, but most of it is very poor even by early Doctor Who standards. If that wasn't the 'origin' story then it would just be another one of those skip-over stories that litter the B&W period.
With the episodes going on iPlayer in November, all the stuff will be in its own 'Whoniverse' section. Part of it will be a new 'Tales of the Tardis' series with Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy as the 5th, 6fh and 7th Doctors, and a lot of the classic series assistants who were with them.

As some of you know I am life president of the West Midlands Doctor Who appreciation society and Chairman of West Midlands Doctor Who Fan Fiction society.
I was quite shocked even dismayed at the Children In need appearance of Doctor Who’s 14 incarnation. Not at David Tennants performance but of the unnecessary changes made to the character of Davros. I then read an article in which Russell T Davies said he had always been uncomfortable with the way Davros was portrayed mentioning that if someone is handicapped they are portrayed as evil.
This is a complete load of tosh and is simply another attempt at fixing something that isn’t broken. Davros is actually a figure of authority and if anything his handicap shows that you can achieve things without being regarded as a victim.
I urge all traditional Who fans to contact Russell Davies and tell him he doesn’t need to make such unnecessary changes. If Mr Davies does start making these changes then quite probably even more damage will be done to the structure and back story of the Doctor. Enough was done in the last incarnation without any further being applied
I would also point out that our senior member Mrs McClackers will not be taking orders for the Tom Baker era home knitted scarves this year. Her recent time in hospital has forced her to put down her knitting needles for a few months

I'm from the era of Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. As a youth I watched the episode where Pertwee became Baker, thankfully taking the very lovely Sarah Jane Smith with him.
To me, they were the last proper Doctor Whos. Peter Davidson was crap and everyone after - Tennant included - was copying Tom Baker.
Tom Baker by all accounts is a bit of a nut job and all the better for it. Witness Captain Rum* in Blackadder. He is one of my heroes and someone I'd love to get pissed with.

Yes, 1974.JP battled with some big spiders in his last adventure. That wore out his incarnation of Dr Who.
He had some excellent advetures - Sea Devils, Autons etc. But I think Tom Baker was even better. The Dalek series with the original Davros is a classic really.

I understand why RTD is saying this, but Davros' disability is fundamental to his character. It would be good to have more representation of various disabilities on TV, but I think that should be by adding characters and not removing those few existing ones.I was quite shocked even dismayed at the Children In need appearance of Doctor Who’s 14 incarnation. If RTD is uncomfortable with the way Davros was portrayed then he shoud simply retire the character. He is not necessary to tell a good Dalek story, and there have been decent Dalek stories (since the character was introduced) that have taken place without him.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
