I thought that was a fitting ending. Obviously was a bit silly in places but it did the series justice

Always a good sign when after three series you still want more.

Good ending and not a Netflix drag out with endless pointless subplots to build for another season.

It has now finished and i didn't expect any remorse but not surprised that he did not survive the end.

As ends go I thought that this was pretty satisfactory - moral justice, a feeling of closure and no signficant loose ends . What more could you want?

Best acting and writing that we will see for quite some time.

It's quit while it's ahead and rightly so.

I did keep thinking "where's the petrol can".

Liked the chief cop's look of awe/reverence when Catherine dobbed in Faisal at the end.

Hope the Landy makes it to the Himalayas. Yes, it'll break down, but you can fix it anywhere.

Brilliant acting again, but felt they wrapped everything else up far too quickly. Seemed a bit rushed and could have done with another episode, or two

Feel a bit disappointed if I'm honest

Agreed on both your points… all a bit too easy in the end.
The side plots that had so much time spent on them in the early episodes didn’t end up meaning much at all.

I agree with this.

I think at least a 90 minute special would've just been enough to flesh out the sub plots and finish them properly.

We didn't get to see Anne Gallagher in the final episode - the last we saw of her was the rant at Ryan. The whole Hepworth and Faisal story was wrapped up in a couple of lines at the end.

I enjoyed it and thought the actual showdown with TLR was good. It just needed a bit more time.

Completely agree with all of this.

It was a satisfying ending and I am glad they didn’t go for anything too stereotypical or overly theatrical.

In terms of writing, it just embarrasses things like Line Of Duty or similar popular shows.

Yes, I would have liked to have seen the chemist arrested and the PE teacher off the hook for his wife's murder. Could have done with another fifteen minutes.

However, wonderful series over three parts.

I agree, glad that they gave it a definitive ending while it was riding on a high. No doubt they could have wrangled 3-4 more seasons out of it and have it turn to st.

Paedo call on the gym teacher was on the money.

One potential plot line left open, house prices in Halifax and district falling as nobody wants to live there as clearly no other cases can now be solved due to retirement of a knackered grandmother.

Lol, a few funny lines leading up to that bit.

Cawood "You beat the st out of me and put me in hospital for 4 weeks"

TLR "Yeah but you battered me on that narrow boat!"

I forget exact lines but that raised a smile.

Teachers youngest daughter had her coat on in every scene. Was expecting it to have some meaning/significance

The actress who played Joanne said it's because she lives in a home with an abusive relationship, it's her coping mechanism - an extra layer of protection from what's going on. Must be a researched thing from actual abusive relationships, makes sense.

Yes could easily been a 90 minute episode and been even better for it, but super ending to a great series.
Agree with another poster, script writing so much better than recent LoDs.

Didn’t expect to feel any sympathy for TLR, but actually he went from being a complete lunatic to a damaged individual who the type of upbringing that he could not cope with normal emotions.

Hence his off the wall behaviour and topping himself when he could no longer avoid seeing his past and future.
